Chelsea are reportedly looking to try their luck for one of their previous transfer targets during the January transfer window.
Going into the summer transfer window, defensive additions are looking to be Chelsea's primary target for the next couple of months.
With Xabi Alonso already roped in as their new manager, the Blues are gearing up for an intensive summer as the Spaniard looks to prepare a road map for the new campaign before the start of the pre-season.
There was a lot of uncertainty regarding the Blues' defensive line-up following Levi Colwill's long term injury which he received during the previous summer.
Both Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior seemingly demanded for defensive reinforcements during consecutive transfer windows during the previous campaign but the club management failed to live up to their expectations, as the former managers scrambled for stability in the Chelsea back-line.
Rosenior was reportedly pushing for the signing of Stade Rennais' Jeremy Jacquet during the winter transfer window but the Blues were unable to lure the French talent to Stamford Bridge, as Liverpool roped him in on deadline day for a transfer fee of £60 million and is now gearing up to start his career for the Reds this summer.
The Blues were seemingly keeping tabs on another center-back during the start of the year, and now as per The Daily Mail (h/t Metro), the West London side are all set to relaunch their campaign for Jacobo Ramon during the coming days.
The Spanish center-back was an out-and-out starter for Como during the previous campaign, as the Cesc Fabregas led side went on to finish fourth in Serie A and eventually qualified for next season's Champions League.
With Ramon as their starting center-back, Como conceded only 29 goals in Serie A during the previous campaign, least by any Italian side in the top flight. Certainly a great addition to his resume during his debut campaign for Como.
Now as the former Chelsea midfielder Fabregas gears up to lead his side into the club's maiden Champions League campaign, they might see some of their pivotal players from the previous season being snatched away by the top European sides.
The Chels could turn out to be one of them, as they look to move in on the tall and sturdy center-back in order to bolster their defense.
Como signed the 21-year-old defender for just €2.5 million from Los Blancos last summer, with a sell-on clause added to his contract, which means Madrid will receive 50% of the transfer fees received by Como when they decide to cash in on Ramon.
The Blues will certainly have to pay a hefty fee for the youngster if they are to bring him in this summer but whether Ramon will let go of his hard-earned chance to start a UCL game for his current side and join a European football-less Chelsea side is still to be seen.
