With Barcelona initiating discussions with a top Bundesliga forward, Chelsea’s pursuit is now under threat, forcing the Blues to compete with the Spanish powerhouse if they want to land their target.

In comments to Erem News, Asllani’s representative, Ayman Dahmani, was candid about the current situation regarding the Catalan giant. Dahmani stated: “Barcelona’s interest in the player is real at this moment, and the Catalan club has been in contact with us.”

Although Barcelona’s interest is real, signing the forward will not be an easy task. Hoffenheim has the protection of a long-term contract that runs through 2029. According to reports, the German club is not willing to negotiate a fee below what they value for their prized asset. Any interested club will likely have to trigger the specific exit conditions already stipulated in his contract.

Dahmani clarified the Bundesliga club’s stance during his interview, reiterating that a cheap departure is not in their plans. He added that Asllani will only leave Hoffenheim if his release clause is paid. According to various reports, that figure is estimated between €25 million and €29 million, a price that reflects his rapid development and high potential.

Asllani’s statistics this season reflect the maturation of a player. At 22, he has established himself as a key piece for Hoffenheim, with nine goals and six assists in 28 appearances across all competitions. His ability to both finish and set up teammates has made him a versatile option for various tactical systems.

His international performance has been equally impressive. Asllani recently became Kosovo’s hero in their dramatic 4-3 World Cup playoff victory against Slovakia, where he found the net at a crucial moment in the match. With four goals in his last seven appearances for his national team, his effectiveness is beginning to translate from the domestic to the international stage.

Barcelona is not the only club closely monitoring the situation, as Chelsea and Tottenham are also believed to be keeping a close eye on the forward’s development. Although Barcelona has identified Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez as its primary target, the financial demands of such a signing could force them to look for more affordable alternatives, such as Asllani.

The German-born forward represents a younger and more affordable profile who could shine under the lights at Camp Nou. However, with the major London clubs also seeking fresh blood for their attacking lines, a bidding war could break out this summer. For now, the Catalan club has taken the first step by establishing contact with the player’s camp.
