A Chelsea Women star has emerged as a target for a European powerhouse that is prepared to spare no expense to secure her signing, sources say.

Real Madrid is interested in signing Chelsea forward Mayra Ramirez, according to sources who have informed ESPN. At 26, Mayra has established herself as one of the most complete forwards in Europe, and, from the sporting department at the white club, they believe she would provide the quality leap they so desperately need in attack.

Real Madrid values the Colombian's physical power and her ease in finding the goal ahead of a summer in which they expect reinforcements to try to establish themselves as one of the top teams in Europe.

The white club reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League last season, falling to Arsenal, the reigning champion, and, in this edition, they have already reached the same round, where they will play Barcelona.

Mayra would arrive at Valdebebas to form a partnership with Linda Caicedo, the great star of the white club, who was recently renewed through 2030.

However, sources consulted by ESPN admit that signing the Colombian international will not be easy, as she is under contract with Chelsea until 2028. Additionally, they recall that the Blues paid €500,000 to Levante for Mayra Ramirez in 2024, a record figure at the time in women's football.

The other question mark for her arrival at Real Madrid is the physical issue, as the Colombian has not played an official match since Aug. 2, 2025, when she lost the Copa America final to Brazil with the Colombian national team.

The Chelsea forward had to undergo surgery for a hamstring problem after getting injured in a friendly match against AC Milan on Aug. 30 and has not managed to return to the pitch since.

Furthermore, her coach at Chelsea, Sonia Bompastor, revealed in March that Mayra suffered a setback when she was already close to returning: "Mayra was progressing well, but she got injured again during her rehabilitation. It has been a very difficult season for her, and I don't know if we will see her until the end of the season, unfortunately," Bompastor said.

Real Madrid, according to sources, will closely monitor her progress in the final months of the season to try to sign her in the summer transfer window.
