The search for possible candidates to replace Rosenior continues, with Chelsea again rumored to be very interested in bringing back someone from the past.

Chelsea's season can be summed up as a roller coaster. It began with sky-high confidence after winning the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 against PSG by a landslide, but little by little, the team slipped in the Premier League until the board decided to fire Enzo Maresca as manager. After that hard blow, Liam Rosenior replaced him with a great start that lifted spirits again at Stamford Bridge.

When it seemed the comeback was definitive, the Blues began losing everything. First, they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in the semifinals by Arsenal FC, then they stumbled in the Premier League and fell to sixth place, which sends them to play in the Europa League. At the same time, in the Champions League, they were crushed by Paris Saint-Germain, 8-2 on aggregate.

This, along with the 3-0 loss to Everton last weekend in the Premier League, put Liam Rosenior’s continuity in doubt. Although the club maintains they trust the Englishman, Enzo Fernandez questioned the board’s actions: “We have lost a manager (Enzo Maresca) who gave us identity, structure and direction, a Club World Cup champion, and no one, not even the players, understands why.”

As a result, rumors of Rosenior’s departure grew, and while the executives support the current manager, they also have their options in case things go wrong. According to TEAMtalk, the Blues have Cesc Fabregas on their radar.

During the week, it was revealed that before Liam Rosenior signed the contract, Chelsea had conversations with Filipe Luis, who was managing Flamengo at the time. At the same time, Oliver Glasner, who will not continue at Crystal Palace, was also considered an option.

Finally, the name that is beginning to gain more traction is that of Fabregas, who had a brilliant past season with Como 1907 and is surpassing himself this season. The Spaniard led the team to promotion, and in his second season in Serie A is in fourth place, in Champions League qualification spots, ahead of teams such as Juventus or Roma, in addition to the added value that the identity toward the club would mean, remembering that Cesc wore Chelsea’s colors in the past.
