Jesse Derry ended up in the hospital after a hard head clash. The Chelsea youngster lay knocked out on the grass, scaring many at Stamford Bridge.
The Premier League witnessed a moment of terror and shock during the match between Chelsea and Nottingham Forest, all because of the hard blow Jesse Derry suffered at Stamford Bridge. The Blues forward was left practically knocked out after a clash with Zach Abbott.
In the 44th minute, the young English striker jumped to dispute a ball in the area; however, the Tricky Trees defender also went all out in the battle for the ball. Both players collided heads, but the worst part was taken by the Chelsea forward.
Jesse Derry fell and was knocked out on the Stamford Bridge grass, which is why his teammates urgently called for medical assistance. The stretcher entered the field and took the player, 18, straight to the hospital.
In a statement on their social media, Chelsea reported that the English player is conscious. However, the forward’s evolution will be announced in the coming hours.
“Jesse Derry has been taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure after his substitution in the first half during today’s Premier League match against Nottingham Forest. Jesse is conscious, talking, and undergoing precautionary checks. We wish him a speedy recovery and thank the medical staff for their quick response,” the club said.
In addition to losing their young forward, the Chelsea team lost three vital points in the search for positions in important tournaments. Nottingham Forest won 1-3, with a great first half.
Taiwo Awoniyi was the most outstanding player of the Tricky Trees, scoring two goals in the match. Also, Igor Jesus joined Nottingham’s goal party; Joao Pedro scored for Chelsea.
Six straight league defeats now for Chelsea. The fans who left Stamford Bridge did so with their heads down, not just because of the 1-3 score but because of how lifeless the team looked. There is no fight, no spark. The young players seem lost, and the veterans look exhausted.
Derry's injury only made an already terrible afternoon worse. The hospital news brought some relief, but the football brought nothing but pain. Forest came, played hard, and left with three points. Chelsea keeps sinking deeper, six in a row. There is no light at the end.
