Due to the poor run of form that Chelsea is suffering, Jorrel Hato admits the dressing room was too quiet after the fourth consecutive loss to Everton on Saturday.
Rosenior watched his Chelsea suffer another defeat on Saturday at Hill Dickinson Stadium. A brace from Beto and a magnificent goal from Iliman Ndiaye gave the Toffees a deserved victory and further increased the Blues’ misery. Chelsea has not won a game since beating Wrexham, a Championship team, in the FA Cup.
This losing streak has resulted in the Blues’ elimination from the Champions League and their fall to sixth place in the Premier League. Chelsea has also been sanctioned with a nine-month ban on registering academy players, in addition to a substantial £10.75 million fine from the Premier League after being found guilty of breaching the competition’s regulations.
To further complicate matters, Rosenior has also had to deal with star midfielder Enzo Fernandez, whose performance has fueled rumors of a possible departure from the club following the loss to PSG.
Hato spoke about the team’s disappointment after losing again. In an interview with the BBC program “Match of the Day,” he said: “Of course, I’m very disappointed. We tried, but today it wasn’t enough. I don’t know what it is, but it’s very painful to have to accept this and look ahead.
We have an international break, so everyone will have time to think about the next game. We’re still in the FA Cup, and there’s also the goal of being in the top four, so we have to look ahead.”
The defender also spoke about the mood in the squad after the defeat and added: “Quiet. Of course, everyone is disappointed, but we have to look ahead. This defeat hurts, but we have to look ahead.”
REUTERSAnd Hato admitted that Rosenior had little to say to his players. He explained: “Actually, not much, because he’s disappointed too. In fact, he said the same thing I did: that we have to keep going no matter how painful it is. I have nothing to say about the fans; today they were fantastic, but it’s important to stay together as a team, as players and as a club.”
Rosenior was questioned about his team’s results and insisted that “it’s not a tactical issue.” The Chelsea manager also said he was willing to take responsibility for his team’s poor run.
“I always want to protect my players. I always will. I take responsibility for that lapse in concentration. But that’s how it is. It’s happened too many times lately not to tell the truth as it is,” he added.
