Journalist Richard Keys writes on his blog that if Frank Lampard leaves Coventry City, he would not return to Chelsea,x as many hope, but would instead join Fulham.
Richard Keys just grabbed everyone's attention by saying the following on his blog: "If Lampard leaves, he will probably go to Fulham; I keep hearing his name linked to that club."
This, without a doubt, would break some hearts among the Blues fanbase, since it had been suggested that one of Chelsea's prodigal sons, like Frank Lampard, might have a second chance to coach the club after the recent departure of Liam Rosenior.
His name as a coach has regained a lot of value after achieving the feat of promoting his team, Coventry City, to the Premier League after 25 years of absence. Additionally, he did it impressively, dominating the EFL Championship and finishing 11 points clear of second place.
That is why Chelsea fans did not hesitate to call for him again for the bench, since he has shown considerable quality and strategic intelligence. However, at first, Lampard said he was not interested in returning to the club of his heart, as he felt quite committed to the Coventry project. He had already achieved his promotion goal; now he wants to fight in the Premier League with them.
REUTERSBut now, with what Keys mentions, everything changes again. Marco Silva, Fulham's current coach, has not renewed his contract with the club and seems to indicate he would leave the team in the summer transfer window.
So, in a hypothetical case where Lampard leaves Coventry, he would join Fulham instead of Chelsea. This is possibly due to his last stint at the club, in which he was tasked with reviving a team in crisis and could not achieve it, leaving through the back door of the club of his heart.
Nothing is official, and we will have to wait until summer to find out what Lampard's final stance will be on this matter, although the truth is that Chelsea's current situation is not something that attracts any coach, with a broken locker room and different players openly commenting on their desire to leave the team.
The Blues need someone with character and love for the colors to stop this snowball. Lampard would be an ideal candidate, honestly.
