Newcastle FC wants Liam Delap, and Chelsea FC might let him go, but Delap wants to stay and fight for his place.
The summer transfer window is about to open for the Premier League, and Newcastle FC is closely following Chelsea FC forward, Liam Delap.
Since last summer, Chelsea has flatly denied interest from other Premier League clubs in signing the British soccer player, and although he has had a very complicated season, the club simply seems unwilling to listen to offers yet.
In this 2025/2026 season, Delap has participated in 44 matches, contributing 3 goals and 4 assists, statistics that, although they seem low, do not surprise us once we look at how injuries have affected the forward.
When Delap plays, he has not performed as required or as he did in his best moments, especially since the injury he sustained in August, which sidelined him for two months.
And it is exactly for this reason that Chelsea fans began to wonder if the club might let him sign for another team.
Now, according to information from Mail Sport, Newcastle FC has the 23-year-old in its sights for this summer because they consider him one of the best players of The Blues.
Confirming the outlet's report, the Senior Football Correspondent at GMS, Ben Jacobs, said that The Magpies are interested and that perhaps one of Chelsea's departures could be Delap.
"There will be outgoings and one could be Liam Delap," Jacobs said.
"My information is that the player would like to stay and fight for his place, and if you're Liam Delap, even with Joao Pedro locking down that lead number 9 role, you're maybe waiting to see who the new manager is, but there is interest in Liam Delap, particularly, I'm told, from Newcastle United, who will add another striker this summer."
But even though Newcastle wants the young British player on its roster, Liam Delap does not seem to be for sale, as Chelsea flatly refuses to let him go, and the player himself has no desire to leave the club, according to The Telegraph.
Although there is still time before the transfer window opens, Newcastle will have to reconsider whether they will really fight to bring the forward to their roster and face Chelsea, or take another direction.
