Burnley boss Hayen said his decision to leave out Satpayev against Charlton was dictated by Chelsea.

Burnley manager Nicky Hayen confirmed Chelsea demanded that on-loan forward Dastan Satpayev sit out their draw with Charlton Athletic on Tuesday.
Satpayev joined Burnley on a season-long loan from Chelsea, following his summer transfer from Kazakh side FC Kairat.
The 18-year-old established himself as a regular starter not long after, featuring in four consecutive games, three of which were as a starter, before sustaining a hamstring injury during a 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough in early September.
He missed the following four games for Burnley due to the injury before the international break. The Standard previously reported that Satpayev returned to Cobham over the break for recovery.
Chelsea are understood to have taken the lead on Satpayev’s rehabilitation process, and Burnley agreed to this arrangement.
Satpayev eventually made his return as a second-half substitute in Burnley’s 4-0 win over Watford last weekend, albeit only a 16-minute cameo.
It was therefore a surprise when Satpayev did not make the team sheet in Burnley’s 2-2 draw with Charlton Athletic on Tuesday.
After the game, Burnley boss Hayen clarified that he would have liked to include the teenager in the game, but parent club Chelsea prevented him from doing so.
Chelsea decide Satpayev's availability amid injury recovery
“No, we were not allowed by Chelsea,” Hayen explained.
“So Chelsea didn't allow him to play because he had a big injury, and they were managing the load together with our medical team, but they told us that he couldn't play today.”
Interestingly, Hayen revealed that the terms of Satpayev’s loan deal dictate Chelsea would have a say in injury situations.
“Yeah, but it’s also part of the deal that if they’re injured, they go to their medical team and work together with ours,” the Belgian head coach responded to whether he was frustrated by Chelsea’s decision.
“We knew, and of course it's unfortunate, because when you saw Dastan also coming on at Watford, you have another threat,” he argued.
“It's a different player than Andreas (Hountondji) to come on. Even more depth, more speed, more technical ability.
“But we keep working really hard, and it’s Friday; it’s a new game.”
Chelsea are understandably cautious with their summer signing’s minutes after more than a month out with an injury. At the same time, Burnley could argue that Satpayev could have helped the team and played some minutes as a substitute without much risk.
The Kazakhstan international is expected to be involved when Burnley host Wolves for another Championship bout on Friday evening.
It remains unclear whether he will be fit enough to be in the starting line-up, but he should at least get more than the 16 minutes he had last weekend.
Burnley will then have a week off before they visit Lincoln City the following weekend on October 24. This should give Satpayev more time to hopefully fully recover.
Satpayev, who primarily played as number nine for Kairat, has mostly played a versatile attacker role at Burnley. He has featured as a left winger, right winger, and a number 10 for the loan club. During pre-season with Chelsea, Xabi Alonso also used him as a left winger, rather than a centre forward.
