Todd Boehly's massive investments as Chelsea owner have brought more misfortune than glory to the club, with zero stability on the bench, signings that never quite fit, and more.
Chelsea is experiencing moments of uncertainty once again. One of the Premier League's most important franchises with a historic pedigree is once again not in its best days. Far from the top in the local tournament and eliminated from the Champions League, the Blues have fallen once again into a hole, and everything seems to come from the high offices of the club.
Since mid-2022, American businessman Todd Boehly has taken the reins of the club with an investment of £4.25 billion; however, it seems that his arrival has set the team at Stamford Bridge backward.
Despite having conquered the 2025 Club World Cup title in the United States, the London side has experienced more sorrows than glories recently, and what was achieved less than a year ago seems like a small diamond in a sea of failures.
Since the departure of German Thomas Tuchel in September 2022, following a series of disagreements with Boehly, the team's bench has not found a coach to provide stability.
A total of seven coaches have passed through the blue technical direction, some even of high renown, such as Graham Potter and Mauricio Pochettino, who spent less than a year in charge of the team.
In Potter's case, of the 31 matches he oversaw, he won 12, lost 11, and drew 8, numbers that led to the decision to let him go. On Pochettino's part, his process was not bad at all; however, a mutual agreement between the board and the Argentine strategist led to the process ending.
After Tuchel, the longest-serving manager was Italian Enzo Maresca, who led Chelsea to the world title, but, as with Tuchel, differences with Boehly forced him to abandon the blue ship.
Chelsea still has two tournaments on the agenda, with six matchdays left in the Premier League, and in a couple of weeks, the Blues will face Leeds United in the FA Cup semifinal.
However, if they do not "step on the gas," Chelsea could be left out of European competitions, as they are currently in sixth place with 48 points, but behind them there is a significant pack of teams that want to get into continental tournaments, some of whom will be their rivals in the upcoming fixtures, such as Brighton and Sunderland.
Furthermore, the Blues still have upcoming matches against rivals above them in the table, such as Manchester United and Liverpool.
