A Chelsea winger apologized to the court after pleading guilty, with more details of the case emerging.

The details of the incident came to light in court, revealing that the Argentine international was caught on camera speeding while driving his black Audi RS 3 on Carrington Lane. The offense took place at 5:51 p.m. British time on Aug. 26, at a time of great upheaval for the young man.

At the time, the 21-year-old player was finalizing his £40 million transfer to Chelsea after the breakdown of his relationship with then-United manager Ruben Amorim. Garnacho was recorded traveling at 50 mph in a 40 mph zone, a lapse in judgment that occurred just at the entrance to United’s main training complex.

The case escalated after the winger initially failed to identify himself as the driver when Greater Manchester Police contacted him in October. However, through his legal representatives at JMW Solicitors, the Chelsea star eventually pleaded guilty and offered a sincere apology to the court.

In a statement submitted to Liverpool Magistrates’ Court, according to the BBC, his lawyers wrote: “Mr. Garnacho acknowledges that he committed the offense of exceeding the speed limit and has pleaded guilty to it. Mr. Garnacho explains that this was an oversight on his part and apologizes for the offense. Our client is embarrassed to find himself currently in this situation and apologizes to the court for the speeding offense.”

Following the guilty plea, prosecutors dropped a secondary charge of failing to provide driver details. The matter was resolved through the single justice procedure, and Magistrate Jane Haynes delivered the sentence in a closed-door hearing to ensure the case was concluded before the season ended.

Garnacho was fined £660, in addition to paying £120 in costs and a £264 victim surcharge. Additionally, the Argentine had three penalty points imposed on his driver’s license.

Since he arrived at Chelsea, the 21-year-old has scored seven goals and provided four assists in 36 games in all competitions. With the player not called up by the Argentine national team for this international break, he will have the opportunity to rest and recover ahead of a busy schedule, before returning to action with the Blues against Port Vale in the FA Cup quarterfinals.
