Chelsea FC is interested in bringing back Darwin Nunez, a forward who did not shine as much as he would have liked during his stint at Liverpool. Now at Al-Hilal, he is looking for bigger challenges.
Chelsea continues its search for an experienced center forward who, from the moment he arrives at the club, begins to contribute goals (something that the team has lacked lately). With Joao Pedro, who started the year excellently but has unfortunately gone from good to bad. Liam Delap, who has only two goals in 2026, and whose sale this summer seems certain. As well as Marc Guiu, who only has substitute roles to support the team when Pedro or Delap are already exhausted.
This is why the Blues have already established communication with Al-Hilal to ask about Darwin Nunez, according to TEAMtalk, who already had a stint in the Premier League at Liverpool, but his performances did not end up convincing the club and the fans, and that is why he ended up accepting a huge offer from Saudi football.
Several European teams believe the 26-year-old forward still has a lot to offer in elite football, which is why they are in contact with Al-Hilal to give him a new opportunity on the old continent.
What is clear is that it will not be a simple negotiation, because Nunez still has a contract in Saudi Arabia until 2028, so Al-Hilal would have all the power over the negotiation. Unless the player can exert some pressure on the club to allow him to leave this summer.
Remember that Chelsea has struggled with effectiveness in its recent matches. If we look at the last seven (excluding the match vs. Port Vale), we see a total of 3 goals for and 14 against.
And of those three goals, two were scored by midfielder Enzo Fernandez, and the remaining one was scored by Joao Pedro, which clearly indicates the lack of precision in front of goal that the team has recently suffered. Something that could be improved by bringing in a more experienced forward, like Darwin.
With a World Cup summer market that promises to be very interesting, since the club needs a replacement in several parts of the field, even on the bench, one can only be patient and see what signings begin to develop as the weeks go by, and see how the club assembles itself to compete decently next season.
