Despite constant rumors in recent weeks, Enzo Fernandez’s agent says it was all a misunderstanding and that the player wants to stay at Chelsea.
Javier Pastore has flatly denied that Enzo is seeking an exit. Despite rumors linking the player, valued at £107 million, with a sensational move to Real Madrid, Pastore insists that recent headlines are the result of a misunderstanding, not a desire to leave London.
In statements to Top Mercato, Pastore was firm: “We already talked about this in recent days. They were comments without the intention of causing problems at Chelsea. He is the captain and has shown his best version this season.
He only mentioned one city and, in several interviews about his future, the media mixed everything up and started saying he would leave Chelsea, but there is nothing true about that.”
The crisis erupted when Chelsea coach Rosenior sidelined Fernandez for matches against Port Vale and Manchester City. The coach had criticized him for “crossing a line” after the Argentine admitted he did not know his future and expressed his desire to live in Madrid.
However, Pastore says the relationship has been restored: “We are on the same page with Chelsea. Yesterday and the day before, we made peace. There was never a real problem; we just had to clear up a misunderstanding. The player apologized to everyone, and now we all agree.”
Pastore defended the player’s intentions but admitted that the former Benfica star made a tactical mistake by speaking to the press. At 25, Fernandez is still adapting to the relentless scrutiny of the Premier League, especially in a turbulent season for the Blues.
“What happened, happened. We explained to the player that, even if he didn’t do anything wrong, he shouldn’t have said that. He is only 25. He is still young and has things to learn. We explained to the club that he said it without malice and that he was wrong to do so,” Pastore added.
Although Chelsea is sixth in the Premier League, Fernandez is key to their long-term plans, with six years left on his contract. The club is fighting for a top-four finish and preparing for the FA Cup semifinal against Leeds, so his presence is vital for the end of the season.
Pastore stressed the need for collaboration: “Chelsea is fighting for a Champions League spot, and Enzo needs minutes before the World Cup. They need each other and are working together. We talked, we cleared everything up. Things are clear. There is no conflict. Enzo still has six years left on his contract, and we must work together, and that is what we are doing.”
