Despite arriving in a multi-million move, the player has not fit in at Chelsea. With performances well below expectations and certain attitudes raising concerns, the board has decided to sell him in the summer.

According to The Sun, Liam Rosenior has “reservations” about Garnacho’s role in his squad. Since taking over on Jan. 6, he has started him in only four Premier League matches, preferring Pedro Neto on the left wing.

A month ago, when asked about the young winger’s development, Rosenior responded cautiously: “He has great ability and potential. For any young player, the biggest challenge is consistency.

He has shown very good signs, both in training and in meetings, which show he is on the right track.” Despite these public words of encouragement, The Sun reports that internally, his departure this summer is considered likely.

Statistics show a difficult debut for Garnacho in west London: he has started in only 21 of Chelsea’s 51 matches this season and has scored eight goals, half of them against lower-division opponents in the FA Cup.

In the Premier League, he has scored only one goal, making it difficult to justify his 40 million-pound signing, especially when the club wants to reduce the squad for the 2026/27 season. With Jamie Gittens injured, Garnacho has not taken the opportunity to establish himself.

Garnacho’s departure from Manchester United was marked by off-field controversy, including a public dispute with former coach Ruben Amorim. Recalling that period, the Argentine international recently told Premier League Productions: “I remember that in the last six months, I wasn’t playing as I used to at Manchester United.

I was on the bench. I wasn’t that bad — I was only 20 — but I thought I should always play. Maybe the fault was also mine. I started doing some things wrong. But it was just a moment, and sometimes you have to make decisions.

I am very proud to be at Chelsea and to still be in the Premier League at a club like this. I have nothing bad to say about United — not about the club nor about my teammates. It was just a change, and life goes on. I regret nothing.”

With Chelsea facing United on Saturday, Garnacho hopes to prove his worth against his former team. In the first meeting in September, he remained on the bench. The Blues are sixth, seven points behind United, who are third.
