Chelsea is closer than ever to signing a breakout forward from Serie A, young Jonathan Rowe of Bologna, but it won't be easy with other teams lying in wait.
Chelsea remains observant of players who can contribute to the team's cause for next season, following Joao Pedro's drop in form, as well as his possible departure to FC Barcelona. The Blue side has taken an interest in Jonathan Rowe, forward for Bologna, who is considered one of the biggest revelations of Serie A this season.
The British footballer has had a good adaptation to the Italian league, scoring 8 goals and providing 4 assists in 42 games, not the best numbers, but they are good for being his first season.
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, scouts from both Chelsea and Galatasaray have been tracking Rowe and his way of conducting himself on the field, as well as his ability to play under pressure.
They comment that in London, they were delighted by the player's ability to lose his marker and his goal-scoring instinct, something they think fits perfectly with the frantic pace that typically characterizes the Premier League.
However, Galatasaray does not want to leave the path clear for Chelsea as they are also very interested in securing the player's services, as a preventive measure in case Victor Osimhen leaves the club this summer.
The dilemma for Chelsea is that several former players and fans have asked the club to sign experienced players, in the case of the offense, Robert Lewandowski, because they mention that having many good young players without a veteran to help them improve or understand what they must do on the field ends up being useless.
The possible signing of Jonathan Rowe would technically fall into the same situation, since at 23 years old, he surely has the quality, but at Chelsea, he would not have the knowledge of someone on the team to help him progress, probably falling into the same spiral in which the team already finds itself.
Veteran or not, the team does need to bring in a forward this summer transfer window, since everything points to both Joao Pedro and Liam Delap possibly leaving the team, leaving only Marc Guiu.
The Catalan footballer has not been fully liked by the coaches who have passed through Chelsea recently, since, under the command of Maresca, he was quickly brought back by the club after being on loan to Sunderland for less than a month, but even so he was not taken into account and had little participation, the same as under the orders of Liam Rosenior and now, Calum McFarlane.
