Chelsea has Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott in its sights to replace Enzo Fernandez should he leave the club this summer.

The topic of Enzo Fernandez remains calm, as Real Madrid publicly declared that it has no interest in the player, has not contacted him, and that the price set by Chelsea, £120 million, is too high. If you add to this the Blues' stance of not lowering the player by a single pound, the result is that we have already had several days without important updates.

However, under the table, they would continue to look for candidates to replace the Argentine in case he leaves the club during the summer. Or that is what Simon Phillips says, who recently spoke on the SPTC podcast.

He mentions: "The information about Alex Scott coming into Chelsea. Initially, I believed Scott would be a replacement for Santos, but now there's a chance Chelsea will not replace Santos. If Enzo Fernandez goes, at the moment I'm hearing that Chelsea are thinking Alex Scott could come in from Bournemouth to replace him.

Adam Wharton is the player who they initially earmarked as the replacement for Fernandez, but at the moment, I was told this morning that Chelsea feel they're going to be priced out of a move for Wharton. It's silly money, really. Chelsea have been speaking to Scott's camp since February, and the club feels that this is the summer to get him. Chelsea will try to sign Scott this summer."

In this way, the club's midfield would continue "in motion." With Andrey Santos, who recently signed for Manchester United, as the natural replacement for the pillars of the position, like Moises Caicedo and Enzo himself. Now the team would opt for Scott, who had strong performances with Bournemouth the previous season. The team needs to not neglect that area of the field, because Enzo's last-minute exit would be very hard.

The coach, Xabi Alonso — who, by the way, already had his first preseason training this Thursday — should carefully consider the players he has, because it is of utmost importance that he has a good first season and reaches the Champions League places. The fans already suffered enough during the previous season, in which they saw their team change coaches several times (including Calum McFarlane's interventions).

As well as the lack of commitment from several of its stars, with Enzo himself starring in a soap opera with Real Madrid that continues to this day, and Marc Cucurella saying that if an offer from Barcelona arrived, it would be difficult to reject (only to later sign for the rival). What the club needs is joy, and both the fans and the board have all their confidence placed in the Spanish coach so that he can achieve it.
