Enzo Fernandez’s agent, Javier Pastore, came out to comment on the photos of the Chelsea player watching the Mutua Madrid Open alongside Real Madrid players.
Javier Pastore, former Paris Saint-Germain star and now Enzo Fernandez’s agent, has denied that his client is pushing to sign for Real Madrid. The rumors grew after photos were published on social media of the player at the Open de Madrid alongside his Chelsea teammates, Marc Cucurella and Joao Pedro, where he also greeted Bellingham. This happened one month after Chelsea sanctioned him for alleged unprofessional behavior and suggested a possible transfer.
In statements to the newspaper AS, Pastore clarified: “There is a lot of talk, but nothing is happening. He is focused on finishing the season strongly at Chelsea.” And he added: “He made some comments that perhaps were not the most appropriate, but he did not say anything out of the ordinary. He simply spoke about Madrid, which he likes very much.”
Despite the appeal of the Santiago Bernabeu, Pastore insisted that his visits are personal, not professional. He noted that the 2022 World Cup winner has strong ties to the city that do not involve a transfer. “Whenever he is free, he comes to Madrid because I am here and he has friends,” the agent added. “That is all.”
Furthermore, he said the player remains professional despite his differences with the board and that his priority is to finish the season well at Chelsea and shine in the World Cup. About the future, he preferred not to close any doors, but clarified that he is now focused on the FA Cup final with the ‘Blues.’
The Argentine’s role at Stamford Bridge has evolved significantly under different coaches, which, according to Pastore, makes him valuable to any elite team. “He has played in several positions. In the last two years, his role has changed quite a bit,” Pastore said, explaining how Fernandez would fit in at Real Madrid.
“With Enzo Maresca, he played further forward, while with Liam Rosenior, he acted as a defensive midfielder,” he added. “With the Argentine national team, he has also played as a more advanced No. 8, joining the attack and scoring goals. His recent seasons, full of assists and goals, make coaches see him more as an offensive player, although he can easily fulfill both roles.”
The agent’s words calm Chelsea’s fans, but reports indicate the club would sell him in the face of a high offer. Signed from Benfica in 2023 for 106.8 million pounds, Fernandez remains one of the most expensive footballers in history. According to reports, Chelsea would ask for a high price for a player whose contract lasts until June 2032.
Interim coach Calum McFarlane praised the midfielder’s resilience after his winning goal against Leeds in the FA Cup semifinal: “When the tactics failed, and Leeds dominated, he was a fighter and a warrior.” “In those moments, we do not need a perfect plan, because he runs, competes, goes for the ball, and encourages his teammates. That was decisive in the match.”
