Former Chelsea player Shaun Wright-Phillips advises Joao Pedro to leave the club for Barcelona.

Joao Pedro, forward for Chelsea FC, has been making headlines in the media after his incredible performance with The Blues, but his future might be elsewhere, or at least that's what the former club player, Shaun Wright-Phillips, thinks.

Chelsea is not at its most prosperous moment, and although the roster has tried hard, they have had their moments of frustration.

Adding to the misfortunes, the club also failed to qualify for the Champions League this year and is currently ninth in the Premier League standings with 49 points.

Given the situation, according to information gathered by The Standard, Wright-Phillips spoke about the club's current state and told Joao Pedro something that left fans a bit dismayed.

"I believe it would be fantastic for Joao if he were to go (to Barcelona)," he claimed. "Personally, given the way Chelsea has been run, if I were him, I would do everything to complete this transfer."

The former club player also argued that playing at Camp Nou alongside big stars like Lamine Yamal or Raphinha would be the best for him, as it would help him score more goals, something that has already been seen at clubs that are not as good as this Chelsea.

"If I were Joao Pedro, I would want to play in the Champions League, and I can't see Chelsea qualifying for any European competition. Joao has the level and deserves to be playing in the Champions League," he concluded.

Joao Pedro's departure from the club is not confirmed at the moment, but what we can be certain of is how well the player has been performing.

The 24-year-old Brazilian has played exceptional matches for the club, thanks to his dribbling in offensive duels, becoming the first Chelsea player since May 2024 to attempt five or more dribbles and complete all of them.

Joao also seems to have initiative and has been able to speak up to make the team improve, as he did for the match they lost to Nottingham Forest (3-1).

"Everyone, including me, must look in the mirror and improve. I'm sorry for the fans; tomorrow we will analyze what went wrong. It's not the coach's fault, it's ours, and we must step up," Pedro said to Sky Sports.

Although many were unsettled by Wright-Phillips' insinuation that he must leave the club, the reality is that only time will tell.
