Cheikhou Kouyaté Played Through Heart Pain For Crystal Palace

Former Crystal Palace man Cheikhou Kouyaté has revealed that he was playing through intense heart pain during his time at Crystal Palace, and throughout his career. 

Kouyaté played 147 times for Palace between 2018-2022, but did so whilst managing a heart problem that he has suffered with since birth. 

Speaking to Waif TV, via SunSport, Kouyaté announced his retirement, citing the recurring issues his heart condition had caused him. 

"The doctors always pointed out the problem to me, but I took responsibility myself. I signed the insurance papers stating that anything that might happen to me would be my responsibility."
