The second half of October sees another European match quickly following Palace's trip to the Amex, before the Carabao Cup fourth round also falls in a mid-week cycle. With seven competitive matches in October Pierre Sage will be hoping for strong results in all of them.

EL - Besiktas JK (A)

For Palace's third European tie of the season they travel to Istanbul to face Besiktas on Thursday 22 October with kick-off at 8:00pm. The match will be shown on TNT Sports.

Besiktas are one of Turkey's big three teams, all of which are based in Istanbul. They have  had a good start to their season in the Turkish Super Lig winning four of their first 6 games. In their first Europa League clash they beat Marseille 4-1 which sees them sit 4th in the League, just behind Palace on goal difference.

Last season they failed to qualify for the Europe, and will be pushing for a successful run in this season's competition.

PL - Newcastle (H)

In Palace's second home game of October they will host Newcastle on Sunday 25 October at 2:00pm which will be shown on Sky Sports. Stuck between their Europa League and Carabao Cup games, this match will likely see squad rotation as Sage looks to balance all three competitions in quick succession.

While the Eagles often struggle when heading to St James Park, Palace are actually undefeated against Newcastle at Selhurst Park in their last five meetings. Overall in the last 10 meetings in all competitions Palace have won two fixtures, drawn three and lost five.

Under new manager Matthias Jaissle Newcastle are starting the league on target form with two wins, a loss and two draws in their first five games.

Cup - Fulham (A)

After travelling to Craven Cottage last month and bringing home Pierre Sage's first three points in the Premier League, the Eagles will return to London to face Fulham in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

The match takes place on Wednesday 28 October at 7:45pm and will be shown on Sky Sports +. Palace fans will be hoping they can secure another strong result against Fulham to help build some momentum and impressive performances alongside the Premier League and Europa League.

Last season, and the year before, the Eagles made it to the quarter-final before losing to Arsenal twice. Reaching the quarter-finals again could be a measure of Sage's success with the squad.

PL - Tottenham Hotspur (A)

Palace's final game of the season, falling on halloween, could be one of the most promising matches of the month given their opponents recent form. The Eagles will travel to Tottenham for a 5:30pm kick-off on Saturday 31 which will be shown on Sky Sports Main Event.

Tottenham are yet to win in the Premier League this season, and currently sit bottom of the table with just 2 points in 5 games. After struggling in the league for the last two seasons Tottenham still appear to be stuck in the same rut.

Palace have won three of their last five meetings with Spurs, and Sage is likely to be hoping for a good result to round off a difficult and congested month.
