49' 0-2 GOAL FOR BRISTOL CITY. First big chance for either side in the second half as Scott Twine steps up for the free kick. The set piece specialist bended the strike over the wall and into the back of the net to make to 0-2 to the visitors.

46' 0-1 We're back underway. Strong half needed from Palace.

Second Half

HT Thoughts -

  • Palace are moving the ball with a lot more fluidity and understanding.
  • The final ball or finish just hasn't quite been there.
  • Missed a few really great chances, especially Nketiah firing his header wide of the post.
  • The overall defending has been strong but another lapse of concentration from the Palace defence saw City take the lead.
  • Benítez has done well.

Halftime Palace 0-1 Bristol City

43' 0-1 Huge save from Walter Benítez. City work the long throw into the box and Will Hughes can't clear on the spin. The original strike from Bristol was blocked, and fell to Hirakawa for a tap in, but Palace's Argentine 'keeper flew out and blocked the shot.

39' 0-1 Palace beginning to build momentum, and whilst City are defending well so far, the pressure could see Palace score.

36' 0-1 Evann Guessand plays a smart ball over the top to Mitchell, who strikes on the half volley but the effort goes just above the bar.

33' 0-1 Close again for Palace! The move started with a great interception and forward pass from Axel Disasi. He found Mitchell, who once again played square to Nketiah. The striker took a clever touch and rounded the defender to meet the ball, but his strike hit the side netting.

29' 0-1 Guessand presses with intent and wins the ball, before being fouled just outside of the box.

25' 0-1 Another chance for Palace, Mitchell plays a smart ball inside to Nketiah, who takes one touch to set himself up before firing over the bar.

24' 0-1 Palace playing smart passing football but it's lacking pace and penetration.

22' 0-1 Bristol City are doing a very good job to contain Palace. The press is very intense and is frustrating Palace, Wharton lashing out at Scott Twine after he was robbed of the ball.

18' 0-1 Evann Guessand has started quite brightly so far, and is kicked down as he beats two opposition defenders with a smart piece of skill.

13' 0-1 Another great cross into the box from Palace, Adam Wharton forcing a corner as the Bristol City defence clears behind.

12' 0-1 Palace dominating possession for the most part and force their first corner of the game after pressure from Evann Guessand, who has started well.

7' 0-1 Huge chance for Palace to pull back level immediately. Excellent cross field switch from Ben Chilwell finds Mingueza who crosses first time into Eddie Nketiah, but the striker somehow heads wide from a matter of yards.

6' 0-1 Bristol City take the lead at Selhurst Park. Óscar Mingueza concedes a free kick on the left flank, the delivery into the box is excellent and Luke McNally rises highest to head home virtually unchallenged.

3' 0-0 First big chance of the game falls to the visitors, Hirakawa firing the ball into the side netting after a smart run to get himself in behind.

1' 0-0 A bight start to this game, high energy and both teams clearly up for it!

First Half

12:29 - The Teams Are Out!

Teams are out at Selhurst Park and undergoing the usual pre-match pleasantries as the teams are announced again. Come on you Palace!

12:04 - Academy Inclusions

The Palace bench is made up of a number of players from the various academy sides. Harry Lee, Chuks Okoli, Nat Kalembo, Caleb Kporha, Seb Williams, Amaari Sealey and Adler Nascimento all make the squad.

11:45 - Evann Guessand Returns

Perhaps the biggest eyebrow raiser for Palace fans is the return to the starting XI of Evann Guessand, who had effectively been shunned from the squad in the first games of the season.

Pierre Sage had previously mentioned that he wanted to see more from the likes of Guessand, Jaydee Canvot and Dwight McNeil when he dropped them, and that worked for the latter two, but Guessand had failed to feature and was omitted from the squad for the majority of the games before the international break.

Palace fans will be hoping that the Ivorian can return to the form they saw when he first joined the club last season.

11:30 - Lineups Announced

Both Crystal Palace and Bristol City have released their lineups for today's game.

Palace Starting XI - W.Benítez, Ó.Mingueza, J.Lerma, A.Disasi, B.Chilwell, T.Mitchell, W.Hughes, A.Wharton, D.McNeil, E.Guessand, E.Nketiah.
