Oliver Glasner said he has ‘no concerns’ regarding Crystal Palace playing in multiple competitions as they reach the business end of the Premier League and Conference League.
Oliver Glasner has said he has ‘no concerns’ that Crystal Palace may need to rotate their squads more in the final few weeks of the season.
Glasner has tried to keep his squad fresh while maintaining their match fitness as they have hit the business end of the Premier League season.
Of course, the Eagles are balancing the final few weeks of the league campaign with their Conference League charge, for which they are in the semi-finals of.
But the Austrian was adamant that his squad are in ‘good shape’ and that he has ‘no concerns’ on players being involved in both the Premier League and the Conference League.
He told Sky Sports following the 0-0 draw with West Ham on Monday night “As long as we have so many players available and all the players are in good shape, I have no concerns at all, and I think we also manage the days quite well.
“For me, it is more important to stay in a decent rhythm because you don’t train a lot and you rest some players because you have a small group of players.
“So that is why I have no concerns at all, players get two days off and we will meet on Thursday to prepare for the Liverpool game.”
Palace head to Anfield with only a win giving them any sort of shot at qualifying for European football next year.
They sit on 43 points, five behind eighth-placed Bournemouth and with a game in hand, albeit against Manchester City.
But Glasner is embracing the challenge of the game against Liverpool, before his side will prepare for the clash with Shakhtar Donestk in the Conference League semi-finals.
The Austrian added: “Really looking forward to this great game.
“Playing at Anfield Road is always a fantastic away game.
“Then we have five days’ time to prepare for Shakhtar Donetsk for the semi-finals.”
Glasner alluded to a full first XI for the match with Liverpool after rotating his side for the matches against Newcastle and West Ham.
Those two games came either side of clashes with Fiorentina, causing Glasner to be cautious over who he played and when.
But with no clash before Saturday this week, Glasner will be able to put out a full XI and then use the four days afterwards to re-set and make sure his squad are ready for the challenge of their Ukrainian opponents.
He said: “Now it is not a rythym of two days in between, it is four days between and we have another four days.
“So right now, we don’t need to take care of it but of course after Shakthar, when we play Thursday, Sunday, Thursday, then maybe we have to rotate a little bit more.”
