Crystal Palace’s Premier League season effectively ended with a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
Oliver Glasner’s men headed to Liverpool looking to win a historic fourth encounter against the Reds this season but were overawed by the occasion and had to settle for nothing.
Now their Premier League position leaves them needing perfection to stand a chance of bagging a European place from their league position and it may be that it is time to throw all the eggs into the Conference League basket.
But who put their hand up despite defeat and who was disappointing?
Here are our player ratings.
Dean Henderson - 6
Henderson has been incredible for Palace all season but sadly against Liverpool, he was not at his best and may feel he should have done better than to concede the goals he did.
The England goalkeeper came out with -1.07 goals prevented, suggesting it was not his finest performance.
Jaydee Canvot - 6
Canvot did not look out of place at all and his rapid development continued at Anfield.
Made 11 defensive contributions, but ultimately could not stop Liverpool scoring three times.
Maxence Lacroix - 7
Slightly wayward with his passing but was typically solid in defence and was desperately unlucky not to score when hitting the woodwork.
Chris Richards - 5
Probably his worst performance of the season in all honesty.
Missed a massive headed chance at one end and won only three of his 12 aerial duels at the other.
Tyrick Mitchell - 6
Just really struggled to get as involved as usual, with only three defensive contributions and 63% accuracy with his passing.
Was taken off at half time for Borna Sosa with a knock.
Adam Wharton - 7
Palace fans won’t want to hear this but was this his audition for his future club?
If so, he played it well and was a big catalyst for Palace’s push for an equaliser in the second half with three key passes and two big chances created.
Daichi Kamada - 7
Another player who just seems always to deliver, no matter the circumstances.
Alongside Wharton helped put Palace into control in the second half and was also unlucky to come away without an assist.
Daniel Munoz - 7
Scored Palace’s goal in controversial circumstances on his 100th appearance for the club and was a menace as always down the right-hand side.
Brennan Johnson - 7
Put in a big shift which will quickly garner some love from the Palace fans.
Made an excellent tackle that was originally awarded as a penalty before VAR correctly overturned it.
Going forward, remained wayward in front of goal and could not test Freddie Woodman with either of his two efforts at goal.
Ismaila Sarr - 7
Having scored in all three of the other matches this season between these two sides, Sarr would have hoped for a fourth.
He mustered up an XG of 0.52 but saw both of his efforts saved by Woodman.
Jean-Philippe Mateta - 6
Another who was wasteful with his chances, blundering two opportunities.
Substitutes:
Borna Sosa - 6
Had some rare minutes on the field and was not out of place but was not hugely effective either.
Yeremy Pino - 6
Came on for Johnson at the hour mark and added to the momentum of Palace attacks but could not quite get on the scoresheet.
Jorgen Strand Larsen - 6
Unlucky not to score with is right foot when hitting the post but ultimately will feel he has to do better with that sort of chance.
