Welcome to the second live match day hub for Palace's ventures in the Europa League. Tonight, the Eagles take on French side Lyon at the Groupama Stadium.

A really disappointing result for many reasons. Palace were poor in the first half, and let themselves down. It wasn't costly at the weekend, tonight it was.

Sloppy goals conceded, and playing well for forty five minutes isn't good enough. The referee had an atrocious game. He got almost every decision wrong, and Palace should have had a penalty for a blatant foul on Kamada in the box.

Pierre Sage and Palace will have to regroup and go again this weekend in a huge game against Brighton.

Fulltime: Lyon 3-2 Crystal Palace

89' 3-2 SO CLOSE FROM RICHARDS! Great corner, delivered in well and Richards powers a header goal wards but saved really well by the Lyon 'keeper.

86' 3-2 Dwight McNeil replaces Quinten Timber after a break in play due to the referee stopping the game once again for an injury that wasn't a head injury.

81' 3-2 GOOOOAAAALLLL PALACE! Daichi Kamada finds another goal for the Eagles. Wharton plays Khalaili down the right, he carries into the box and his squared ball finds Kamada who slams home.

76' 3-1 Lyon with another one. Incredibly lucky goal. It's incredibly naive from Disasi, who fails to get up and leaves everyone onside. Cross in, flicked by Nakamura, falls to Šulc who flicks beyond Benítez.

75' 2-1 Lyon miss a huge chance to extend their lead. Disasi playing around on the ball and loses possession but the chance is wasted.

74' 2-1 Khalaili and Osorio are on for Mingueza and Pino.

71' 2-1 Massive chance for Palace as the ball drops inside the box. Kamada gets the ball stuck under his feet and can't finish.

70 2-1 Replay shown. It's a stonewall penalty. The referee hasn't been good enough tonight, but how VAR hasn't helped him out there is a joke.

68' 2-1 How have Palace not had a penalty?! Kamada wrestled to the floor in the box and the referee waves it away. VAR check it and say no too. Crazy decision.

67' 2-1 Big save from Benítez as Lyon attack for the first time in this half. Tips a headed effort over the bar.

62' 2-1 Changes for Palace. Daichi Kamada and Eddie Nketiah replace Jørgen Strand Larsen and Ismaïla Sarr.

57' 2-1 Referee is starting to actually referee the game now. Two bookings in quick succession, one for Pino, one for Nakamura. Comes shortly after Sarr miss-controls a through ball.

55' 2-1 Palace really stepping on to Lyon here. Sarr breaks into the box and drills a cross in but it's too high for Pino at the back post. Palace need to capitalise on this momentum.

54' 2-1 Free header for Strand Larsen from a corner but he misjudges his header.

51' 2-1 GOOOOOALLLLL FOR PALACE! Some neat play going forward has finally taken place, and Wharton threads through to Pino who makes no mistake, slamming a strike into the near post to half the deficit.

46' 2-0 We're back underway. Work to do for Palace.

Halftime: Lyon 2-0 Palace

A really poor half from Palace. Not only have they gone and conceded seconds before the break which essentially kills the game, but they've defended poorly and attacked with next to no intent so far.

Ismaïla Sarr's addition to the side has hindered Palace who are missing Kamada's work rate. Mingueza is being left exposed at the back whilst Sarr stands on the last man.

Nakamura is having a field day. He's a great player, but he's being given far too much space, and Palace are defending very abjectly in one v ones. Richards backing off consistently and both fullbacks being beaten too easily.

Going forward, Palace look toothless. Sarr and Strand Larsen are offering next to nothing as an outlet, both standing still and making very little runs at all.

It's going to be a tough ask for Palace in this second half.

45+3' 2-0 Lyon double their lead. Nakamura again causing issues down the left, and he crosses to Ernest Numar, who slams home from close range. Awful defending from Palace, awful time to concede. Far too easy.

42' 1-0 Another great chance for Lyon. Nakamura takes on Richards who backs off and the ball is cut back across the box, but the effort is blocked at source. Benítez comes out to claim the corner.

36' 1-0 Big chance for Sarr. Heads it and the 'keeper saves, but the referee gives a handball. I'm not sure he knows what he's doing. He then books Sarr for questioning him.

35' 1-0 Both sides really cancelling each other out here. Feels like Lyon are there for the taking though, just a huge lack of impetus from Palace going forward.

31' 1-0 Chance for Lyon to double their lead. Attacking down the right, Ismaïla Sarr shows no interest in covering, leaving the winger free to cross. Headed chance saved by Benítez who takes a huge hit as a result.

28' 1-0 The referee finally gives a free kick. About time. He's ignored almost everything else.

26' 1-0 Game has been stopped since that challenge as Tolisso requires treatment. Sage takes the chance to get his players in and give them some information. 'Play better' hopefully.

24' 1-0 Referee ignores a push on Timber who then lunges into Tolisso.

18' 1-0 Palace pinned back and struggling to get a hold of the ball here. Started well before conceding but seem to have sunk back slightly since Lyon went ahead.

11' 1-0 Referee not taking much here. Waved away a Strand Larsen tumble early on and has just played on after a Lyon player feigned a head injury from a long throw.

8' 1-0 Lyon take the lead. Corner not defended and Corentin Tolisso slams in from close range to put the hosts ahead.

6' 0-0 Tidy work from Nakamura on the left to escape Disasi, but Richards blocks for a corner.

4' 0-0 First chance for Palace, well worked from Canvot who drives forwards and releases Pino, he finds Mitchell who crosses to Strand Larsen but the Norwegian can't find good contact.

1' 0-0 Kick Off. We're underway in Lyon.

17:42 - Players Out!

We're moments away from kick off, come on you Palace!!!

17:22 - Sage speaks ahead of game

Pierre Sage has just spoken to TNT Sports pitch side ahead of the game.

"When supporters come to see a game they don't know the end of the game or how we play the game, it's not like a movie in the cinema. They come because they love the club, we have to give them, back by showing that on the pitch, showing that Crystal Palace are a big club."

On the changes to the side - "I want to see their abilities and skills because they are different than the players who played the game before. We will have the speed higher on the right and it's another way to cause some problems to our opponent. That's why sometimes we change, when you have a lot of players who deserve to play and it's important to look at the context of the game."

Sage has a lot of family and friends attending the game, but was keen to avoid the narrative of him returning to his former club.

"It's only a game for me, I don't want to do it personally because I work, I'm proud to work for this club and I'll be happy to get the result. My life was here, maybe it will be one day again but for now I'm at Palace and I want to get the win for this club.

17:10 - Potential for delayed kick off?

There's a chance that the kick off could be delayed, with hundreds of Palace fans still waiting for the bus transfer to the stadium, which is the only way fans can travel to the ground.

This could cause a delay to kick off.

16:45 - Team News

The teams have been announced for this evening's game, and there's big news for Palace as Ismaïla Sarr finally returns to the starting XI. Óscar Mingueza is also back in the side, as Khalaili and Kamada drop to the bench.

Adam Wharton continues to captain the side, and Axel Disasi returns to the back three after missing his second of three games for his red card in the Premier League.

Paulo Fonseca has also named a strong side for Lyon, with danger man Nakamura starting on the wing.
