The Eagles are closing in on a reunion with the Ivorian forward, negotiating a high-value loan deal to bolster Pierre Sage’s attack following their European success.
Crystal Palace are advancing in talks to sign Evann Guessand on a season-long loan from Aston Villa. In collaboration with The Article, we can exclusively reveal that the South London club are now in advanced talks with Villa over a loan move with an option to buy.
Villa are seeking a buy option in excess of £25 million, and Palace are confident that a deal can be struck.
Personal terms are no issue, and Guessand is keen on the move after playing the second half of the 2025/26 season in South London, playing a role in Palace winning the UEFA Conference League.
Guessand returns to bolster attack
Guessand returning would add some much needed depth to Pierre Sage’s forward line, and considering his spell at the club last season, he would settle in quickly.
Palace have been long-term admirers of the Ivorian, and came close to signing him before he joined Villa. Guessand snubbed Palace for the prospects of Champions League football, but now looks set to return to Selhurst Park.
Guessand divided opinion at Selhurst Park but was a hit overall, and as Palace continue to navigate the transfer window, bringing in reliable quality in the forward line would be a smart move, especially considering he won’t come at a huge initial cost.
His Palace form earned him a place in his countries’ World Cup squad, although he was only used twice off the bench in the tournament.
