Jaydee Canvot - Iceland U21s 1-1 France U21s
It’s been a difficult start to the season for Palace’s young central defender, who was dropped from the matchday squad for the game against Ipswich Town, but put in a strong effort in Palace’s final Premier League game before the break in a 0-0 draw against Leeds United.
Canvot started this game alongside Nathan Zeze who Palace were linked to over the summer transfer window.
That start will be a good momentum boost for Canvot, who has evidently taken Pierre Sage’s decision to drop him well, and played himself back into strong form in time for this international break.
France took the lead through Mathys Tel but were pegged back by Iceland as Daníel Tristan Goðjohnsen equalised in the second half to see the game end level.
France are still top of the qualification group for the under-21 European Championships.
Honest Ahanor - Italy 0-2 Belgium
Italy started their Nations League campaign with a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Belgium at Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Ahanor has been fantastic for Palace since his debut in the league cup against Middlesbrough, and featured from the start in Palace’s games until the visit to Leeds, when he wasn’t included in the matchday squad.
Ahanor didn’t make it on to the pitch in this defeat, as Italy conceded a goal in each half, from Mika Godts and Dodi Lukebakio.
Dean Benamar - England U19s 1-0 Ireland U19s
Palace youngster Dean Benamar started for Ben Futcher’s under-19s as they won late on against Ireland courtesy of a Max Dowman strike in the 85th minute.
Coming up…
Yerémy Pino will be back at Wembley to take on England on Saturday evening, and both Chris Richards and Zavier Gozo could feature for the United States in their first friendly against Peru, which kicks off at 21:30 on Saturday night.
