Anan Khalaili - Israel 0-0 Kosovo

It was the keepers who stood out in this one, with neither side able to find a breakthrough across the ninety minutes. Anan Khalaili started once more for his country, but was withdrawn in the 77th minute with an injury, appearing to hold his upper thigh as he hobbled off the pitch.

Palace fans will be desperately hoping that their new right wing-back is not injured seriously enough that he will miss the upcoming run of games which follows the break.

Palace face Nottingham Forest at Selhurst Park, followed by away trips to Olympique Lyonnais, Brighton and Besiktas. Palace will need their first choice in this position for those games.

There has not been an update on Khalaili’s fitness yet.

Yerémy Pino - Spain 4-1 Croatia

Luis De La Fuente’s side continued their dominance on the international stage with a resounding 4-1 win over Croatia, Lamine Yamal bagging two goals and an assist as he continues to stake his claim for the Balon D’Or.

One player that didn’t feature however, was Crystal Palace’s Yerémy Pino. ‘Load management’ is a term that a lot of football fans are becoming more accustomed to, and Pino is yet to feature in any capacity for his national side this break.

Pino was an unused substitute in Spain’s win over England, but was completely axed from the squad for this game, which raises questions as to why he was picked in the first place if he was simply going to miss all of Spain’s games.

Rio Cardines - Curacao 1-0 Trinidad & Tobago

Palace youngster Cardines started once again for his nation, and played 76 minutes in a closely contested game against one of the World Cup’s surprise packages during the summer.

Juninho Bacuna scored the only goal of the game, assisted by Tahith Chong.

What has been apparent from watching Cardines’ games for his nation, is that they seemingly love a red card. Three red cards in their last two games is somewhat farcical and goes a certain way to explaining why they are finding themselves on the wrong end of defeats.

Despite this, these games still act as vital experience for Cardines on the international stage.
