Zavier Gozo & Chris Richards - USA 4-1 Peru
The United States kicked off their international break with a 4-1 win against Peru at the Inter and Co stadium in Orlando, Florida. Whilst Richards was left out of the starting XI and squad due to load management, Gozo did appear from the bench in the second half.
The youngster’s minutes have been relatively limited this season, but as one of the State’s best prospects, it’s good to see that his lack of minutes at Palace hasn’t blocked his pathway into his country’s squad.
Gozo came on with the scores level on the hour mark, replacing fellow young star Cavan Sullivan. Playing as a right midfielder and played a strong role for Mauricio Pochettino's side.
Richards will likely return to the side across the remaining international break games.
The USA’s next matchup comes early on Wednesday morning, when they face Darío Osorio’s Chile.
Yerémy Pino - England 2-3 Spain
Whilst Palace’s Spanish forward didn’t feature much at all at the World Cup, he is clearly an important part of Luis De La Fuente’s squad. Pino was an unused substitute as Spain ran out 3-2 winners at Wembley Stadium, despite England taking the lead after strikes from Harry Kane and Anthony Gordon.
Pino is unlikely to start many games for La Roja, with Alex Baena ahead of him in the pecking order as well as the obvious duo of Williams Jr and Yamal.
Pino’s next opportunity for some minutes will be in Spain’s game against Croatia on Tuesday night.
Rio Cardines - Trinidad & Tobago 1-2 Dominican Republic
After notching an assist in his first game of the international break, Cardines started once again for his national side. There was no assist for Cardines in this game, but a hectic match that saw three red cards occurred, as the Dominican Republic came from behind to win 2-1 in the CONCACAF Nations League.
Cardines played the entire ninety minutes as he continues his development this season. He now faces two matchups with World Cup surprise package Curacao, and will therefore miss the behind closed doors friendly between his current side Bristol City and Palace.
