Tom Masters takes you on a trip down memory lane after Crystal Palace;s FA Cup triumph in 2025.

One year ago today and Palace fans were waking up worldwide with an almighty hangover.

They had just booked their place in the FA Cup final with a sensational 3-0 win over Aston Villa and it was time to plan another trip to Wembley the following month.

Now of course, we can look back extremely fondly on the memories of such an occasion, not least because we know what happened next.

So sit back and relax as we take you on a trip down memory lane.

The pre-match build-up

Crystal Palace had not been at Wembley since the 2022 FA Cup semi-finals, when they ultimately lost 2-0 to Chelsea.

But immediately, there was a feeling of excitement, rather than nerves, surrounding the occasion.

From the very start, Palace fans, sporting red and blue, made Covent Garden their own to kick start proceedings.

Then it was off to the Green Man as fans began to make their way to Wembley.

Of course in the Fanzone too, fans were joined by the likes of John Salako, Scott Dann, Martin Kelly and James McArthur.

And to top it all off, it was a beautiful sunny day.

A glorious day in north London

Palace were, quite simply, on fire at Wembley.

There was to be no repeat of their previous occasion at the national stadium.

Eberechi Eze gave Palace the lead after 31 minutes and then it was time for the Ismaila Sarr show.

The Senegalese star scored twice in the second half as Palace enjoyed one of their all-time great days and booked their spot in the FA Cup final.

What happened next?

Well, unless you have been living under a rock, Crystal Palace went on to do something even more special in the final.

Up against it, facing a Manchester City side who were strong favourites, Palace once again enjoyed the beautiful sunny conditions under the arches.

Daniel Munoz found Eberechi Eze, who managed to slot it into the back of the net and send Palace fans into pandemonium.

The game was to be a supremely tense one though, and Manchester City did win a penalty.

Controversially, they opted for Omar Marmoush to take it and not Erling Haaland, and the Egyptian failed with his effort from the spot, thanks to a formidable save from Dean Henderson.

The final moments were tense and nervy but eventually the final whistle blew and Palace’s greatest ever day was confirmed and fans could celebrate at Wembley once again.
