Six managers are on the shortlist to replace Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace this summer, according to James Savundra of Sky Sports. The Austrian is confirmed to be leaving this summer, and the saga of who will replace him is ongoing.

Tom Masters explains the six man shortlist for Oliver Glasner's replacement.

The ongoing saga of who will replace Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace looks likely to last a few more months yet, but it appears there has been some progress.

Glasner’s two-and-a-half years at the club are coming to an end in June after he made it clear that he wanted to depart the Eagles this summer in search of further ambition.

There was some recent discourse amongst the Crystal Palace community that Glasner may take a U-turn regarding whether he stays or goes but that does not appear likely.

And that leaves Steve Parish and the Palace hierarchy at square one and with time starting to become a factor due to the ideal timing being to have a new manager before the World Cup starts.

That leaves just over a month to make that decision, with the World Cup starting on June 11.

And it appears that Palace are away of the slight internal time pressure, as according to Sky Sports’ James Savundra, there is now a six-man shortlist.

Who is on the shortlist is not confirmed; it appears that Andoni Iraola, who was the overwhelming No.1 choice, has finally been dropped from the list, with the outgoing Bournemouth manager looking at bigger fish.

Other names, including Thomas Frank, Marco Silva, Frank Lampard and Kieran McKenna, are admired by the Palace top dogs, but it is not known at this stage whether they are on the list or not.

In his post on Sky Sports, Savundra wrote: “Crystal Palace are believed to have drawn up a shortlist of six potential successors to Oliver Glasner.

“The club are working through the list and doing due diligence on each of them, with Glasner leaving when his contract expires this summer.

“Contrary to some recent speculation, no U-turn on his decision to go is expected.

“Sky Sports News reported last month that Palace were already moving onto other targets due to the unlikelihood of Iraola switching to Selhurst Park.

“Palace also have admiration for a host of other managers such as Thomas Frank, Marco Silva, Frank Lampard and Kieran McKenna but it is not clear which - if any - of these are on the shortlist.”

Frank, who was sacked by Tottenham in January, has been available since that ill-fated time in north London and lives in London, making him a potentially ideal fit.

He is the favourite for the job according to Sky Bet, who interestingly include Gareth Southgate as the fifth favourite.
