With the Premier League returning this weekend, so does the Fantasy Premier League, with Crystal Palace Roundtable running our own league for the season which you can join here.

This piece gives you a run through of information to help you pick your three Palace players with the best knowledge of who earns the most points, who has the biggest potential and what prices to expect.

Highest points last season (excluding departed players)

Often when making picks for FPL it is best to look at the track record of players, especially when their form is unavailable at the beginning of the season.

Here’s the top five Palace players on points last season:

Related stories

1 - Daniel Munoz - 136 points

  • Munoz ranked high last season for his combination of attacking quality and defence. He ranked high in the league for tackles completed and remains a solid choice for a Palace defender who also brings points from his attack.

2 - Tyrick Mitchell - 135 points

  • Mitchell performed similarly to Munoz, ranking 6th in the league for tackle completion. In the wing back role both him and Munoz have been Palace’s highest-scoring current players as they often maximise points from different defensive and attacking metrics.

3 - Dean Henderson 131 points

  • At the back, leading the team, Henderson scored higher than any of Palace’s lead attacking players, bringing in points from clean sheets and defensive contributions. Being Palace’s number 1, with limited rotation in the league, Henderson is likely to be a stable option for maximum points for minutes.

4 - Chris Richards - 128 points

  • Richards topped Palace’s defence (of current players) last season with Palace’s best for clearances, blocks and interceptions as well as the points measure of defensive contributions. With Maxence Lacroix’s departure, Richards could be the main man in the back three, bringing the potential for more points.

5 - Ismaïla Sarr - 117 points

  • As Palace’s top goalscorer last season it is no surprise he ranks highest for the Eagles attackers, with his creativity and high goal conversion rate. It will be interesting to see how he performs given the change in players around him to support him on the attack.

Price ranges

With a limited budget of £100m on FPL, here is a list of the top Palace players for each price range giving you assistance in trying to balance the team.

£4.5-£5m

At £4.5m, Mitchell and Riad are the cheapest route into Palace’s defence. Mitchell is the more established option, having scored 135 points last season, while Riad could benefit from increased opportunities following Lacroix’s departure.

At £5m, Chris Richards and Dean Henderson are established and high scoring options, with Canvot also sitting at the average price for defenders. Daichi Kamada is also available for £5m which is a good price given his centrality to Palace’s midfield last season and his potential to strengthen his attacking output.

£5.5-£6.0m

Palace’s highest point scoring player of last season, Munoz, costs only £5.5m, although fans may be put off by his uncertain future at the club before keeping him in the selection.

Adam Wharton and Yeremy Pino also sit at £5.5m offering cheap routes into Palace’s midfield, although both would need to improve their attacking returns before becoming standout options.

Jørgen Strand Larsen is Palace’s only £6m priced option, and he could be the better choice for forward, given Jean-Philippe Mateta Mateta is struggling with form during the summer break.

£6.5 +

Palace’s two most expensive FPL players are Ismaïla Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta, both priced at £6.5m, which is still a relatively reasonable price for players with a high attacking output.

Both are affordable enough to fit into a number of FPL squads, especially when trying to balance alongside the higher costing attackers.

New Signings

Palace’s new four summer signings could also be some good and promising picks for FPL. Takehiro Tomiyasu and Óscar Mingueza both cost £4.5m while Anan Khalaili is £5.0m and Dwight McNeil is £5.5m.

Players to watch

Of course Palace’s top scoring player, Munoz, should be kept a close eye on for anyone not selecting him in their squad initially. If Munoz is to depart then selecting Khalaili could be a good move as Palace fans are really excited by his arrival and feel his experience playing in the Champions League could bring a great deal to the squad. But if Munoz is not to depart, it will be interesting to see how the minutes are split in the wing-back role by Sage and whether Munoz will be getting the same level of opportunities as last season.

A future prospect to keep an eye on is Joel Drakes-Thomas, whose price at £4.5m could be a good idea for anyone who needs to fill a bench position with a low costing midfielder. It is uncertain whether the youngster will get the same opportunities under Sage as he did with Glasner, but given that his talents appear to be developing more, we could even see him gain regular minutes.

Canvot is another one whose future development looks bright, and while he didn’t necessary score high last season, he has become a solid centre-back given the departure of Guehi and now Lacroix. Unless Palace sign another centre-back ahead of the campaign it is likely Canvot will be starting most, if not all, games.

Our recommended three picks: Mitchell, Wharton, Sarr
