Oliver Glasner believes that Brennan Johnson will find his feet at Crystal Palace and will be a useful asset for the team as the season goes on.

Tom Masters gives his post-match thoughts on Crystal Palace's 0-0 draw with West Ham.

Oliver Glasner praised Crystal Palace winger Brennan Johnson and said he was confident he would score plenty of goals for the Eagles by the end of the season.

Johnson had two major chances in the 0-0 draw with West Ham on Monday night and was unable to direct either on target, with Palace landing only one shot on target all game.

The Wales winger was also booked for a poor tackle on El Hadji Malick Diouf in between his two misses in what was another performance that had people questioning Johnson’s ability to star in a Palace jersey.

But Glasner was adamant that Johnson’s performance against West Ham was a good one and insisted that for him, goals are not everything for attackers.

He told Sky Sports following the 0-0 draw with West Ham: “I think it was a good performance; he was a big threat today.

“He had a great finish first half and he missed it and in the second half, the same, so I think it was a very good performance.

‘For me, it is not just the goals the attackers score, he was a big threat, he did very well out of possession.”

Johnson has still yet to score in a Palace jersey since a £35 million January move from Tottenham.

It was a transfer that many thought would suit all parties but things have not clicked for Johnson, and he has struggled to adapt to Glasner’s 3-4-2-1 formation.

Glasner was not worried about his lack of scoring though, insisting that Johnson’s effort levels are high and that will eventually bring restuls, which will, in turn bring confidence.

“It was his best game for getting pressure on the ball and disturbing them in the build-up, so I think it was a good step into the right direction,” the Austrian added.

“This was really good to see, because he will get confidence from these performances, from getting the chances.

“In the last games, maybe he did not have the chances, today it was the first step, getting chances.

“The second is to convert them and when I see how good his finish is, I am pretty sure he will score a few goals for us this season.”

Johnson finished last season as Tottenham’s top scorer in all competitions as they finally ended their trophy drought with the Europa League and it was the winger who scored the goal in the final.

Now, he will hope he can do similar for Palace as he plays his part at the business end of a European campaign in a second straight season
