The Eagles are readying a £16.2 million bid for Torino’s explosive Swedish winger. This raw talent offers blistering pace and Zaha-like flair to bolster Pierre Sage's attacking depth.

After a successful day in the transfer window yesterday, Crystal Palace are continuing their pursuit of incoming signings as they go after Torino forward Alieu Njie. A report from Sébastien Vidal has confirmed that Palace are set to return with an offer of £16.2 million including bonuses for the Swedish 21-year-old.

On Friday, Palace confirmed the signing of Takehiro Tomiyasu as a free agent, and it was also confirmed that Zavier Gozo was travelling to London for a medical.

Italian side Torino are insistent on keeping the player, but if Palace continue their pursuit a deal could well be struck.

Who is Alieu Njie?

Njie is a 21-year-old left winger who plays for Italian side Torino, and has done so since graduating from their academy in 2024.

He’s an extremely attacking player, primarily a left winger although he can play both on the right and also as a second striker. He’s extremely fast, and his 6”1 frame allows him to power beyond defenders, Njie thriving in one on one scenarios.

Despite his academy development, Njie does not favour conservative possession football. He receives the ball and instantly looks to beat his man. I'll whisper it quietly, but he reminds me of a young Wilf Zaha when he stands up defenders.

Njie’s final product is not the most consistent, but his link up play is very exciting and he has bags of confidence when in possession.

Njie is by no means the finished product, he made 15 appearances for Torino’s senior team last season, starting only twice. In the 311 Serie A minutes he played, Njie scored once and assisted once, and made a good impression in the little chance he was given.

The raw elements of his game are very impressive, and although he is yet to translate that into first team football consistently, the signs that Torino have seen have been more than enough to warrant holding out for a good fee.

How would Njie fit in at Palace?

With no departures in Palace’s forward line so far, it looks set that Sarr, Pino and Mateta will continue as the three starting forwards, and therefore what Palace need is more depth.

The imminent signing of Zavier Gozo not only adds quality in depth but also a great level of promise for the future. This would be similar with Njie, who still has time to develop and can comfortably play a backup role to Pino.

A deal in the region of £16.2 million would be a sizeable outlay for a player with significantly limited senior minutes, but it’s the sort of investment that Palace have seen pay off so many times before.
