Crystal Palace have been linked with Wolves defender Santiago Bueno. The Uruguayan is said to want to remain in the Premier League.
Crystal Palace are one of four clubs interested in signing Wolves defender Santiago Bueno this summer.
Wolves are likely to lose the vast majority of their squad this summer, after their relegation to the Championship.
Rob Edwards’ men have won just 17 points from their 34 matches this season, failing to win a single away game, with relegation all but confirmed long before the former Luton and Middlesbrough boss took over.
Now, some of their international players are looking to make their exits from Molineux, and there is expected to be a major exodus of players, which began in January when Palace signed Jorgen Strand Larsen.
The Eagles have also been linked with midfielder Joao Gomes, who has also attracted attention from Atletico Madrid.
And now, there is another link, in the form of centre back Santiago Bueno, another who is looking to depart the Midlands club once relegation is completed in May.
Bueno arrived at Molineux from Spanish side Girona in August 2023 and immediately became an important presence, playing in 81 matches for Wolves.
That includes 30 this campaign, where he has scored three times and got two further assists.
Now, the Uruguay international wishes to depart and remain in the Premier League and Crystal Palace are one of four clubs that are linked with him.
The Eagles lost Marc Guehi to Manchester City in January and although Jaydee Canvot has been an excellent find, they find themselves short at centre back, with only four natural centre-backs.
Of course, it depends on whether Oliver Glasner’s replacement also plays a back three next season, but if so, it seems likely they will want to bring in at least one centre-back this summer.
Sportwitness have reported that Bueno has attracted interest from Palace, as well as Leeds, West Ham and Brentford.
The article read: “With Wolves’ relegation, the Uruguayan has no plans on playing in the Championship. A source told Sport Witness he wants to continue in the Premier League next season.
“Santiago Bueno has options to join Leeds United, Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Brentford in the next window.
“The same source informed us the Whites, Oliver Glasner’s side, West Ham and Brentford have all made contact over a move for centre-back.”
What exactly Wolves are expecting to get from Bueno remains to be seen, but with Palace in need of some sort of defensive reinforcements, it does make sense that they would look to bring the Uruguayan in this summer.
