Everton's owners The Friedkin Group have put the club up for sale.

Everton's owners The Friedkin Group have stabilised the club through a difficult period, helping complete the stadium move, but they are now looking for a way out.

After a difficult summer transfer window, there has been a lot of pressure on the club, with David Moyes left with just one striker, one right-back, and one left-back. Many are pointing their fingers at the ownership group, who undoubtedly have to take some of the blame for the failure of the window.

Everton were in a precarious situation when TFG opted to take control of the club. Farhad Moshiri had run the club into the ground, with multiple points deductions, financial issues, and relegation battles clouding over them.

Everton are certainly in a more stable position, but TFG are now looking to move on.

TFG put Everton up for sale

According to The Athletic, TFG have now put the club up for sale, and they are open to a full sale of Everton. TFG were initially looking for fresh investment into the club to help push them forward, but the sale of a majority stake is now being considered.

TFG are happy to keep hold of the club for as long is takes for them to right owner, as they are only open to selling Everton if they are convinced the new owner can take them to the next level.

TFG bought Everton back in December 2024, purchasing the club from former owner Farhad Moshiri. The Toffees were in an incredibly difficult situation back then, but there's no doubt they are in more of a stable position right now.

There has been a lot of criticism thrown the way of TFG following the summer transfer window, with many suggesting that their main priority is comfortably Italian side Roma. The Serie A giants are set to be building a new, state-of-the-art stadium in Rome, while the likes of Dan Friedkin can be regularly seen at Roma's matches.

When news first broke of TFG being open to a partial sale, we looked into what we would like to see from a new ownership group going forward.

How long it will take for a new ownership group to come in remains to be seen. Everton are a more attractive prospect than they were when TFG initially took over, so they shouldn't be short of potential buyers over the coming weeks and months.

"The Friedkin Group is exploring new investment options for Everton Football Club, including the potential sale of a controlling interest.

When TFG became custodians of Everton, the Club faced significant financial uncertainty and challenges both on and off the pitch. The immediate priority was to provide the stability, investment and support needed to secure the Club’s future, including helping to bring the long-promised stadium to completion for its deserving supporters.

With that foundation now safely in place, the time is right to consider the next chapter for Everton. We will only entertain interest from parties who we strongly believe will be the right stewards to take the Club forward and build on the momentum that has been established.

Throughout this process, TFG’s focus will remain unchanged. We will support the Club in all ways necessary to achieve success on the pitch and will continue efforts to make a positive difference in the communities the Club serves.

TFG and the Club will not be commenting further while this work is under way.

Moelis & Company has been retained by TFG."
