The Toffees are leading a high-stakes race for the Middlesbrough midfielder, as the clubs haggle over a valuation gap while rival Premier League suitors prepare their bids.
Everton are prepared to pay £20m to sign Middlesbrough's Hayden Hackney, with the two clubs remaining in talks over a potential deal.
Reports emerged earlier this month that Everton were leading the race to secure Hackney's signature, and it appears to still be the case.
Hackney's Middlesbrough failed to gain promotion to the Premier League during the 2025/2026 season, and with his contract expiring next summer, the North East club have a decision to make.
The club can either cash in while they still have an opportunity, or risk him running down his contract next summer. Considering their strong stance in terms of valuation for Hackney, it appears they are happy to play the long game.
Everton remain in talks for Hackney
According to a report from GIVEMESPORT, Everton remain in talks to sign Middlesbrough midfielder Hackney ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Toffees are prepared to pay in the region of £20m after already seeing two offers rejected. Middlesbrough are believed to be holding out for around £25m, while Everton do remain frontrunners for his signature.
REUTERSTottenham and Manchester United also have Hackney on their radar, while Crystal Palace are expected to make an offer in the coming days.
Hackney is still prioritising a move to Everton this summer, despite Crystal Palace readying an offer. The Eagles could offer him regular minutes, with doubts around the futures of Daichi Kamada and Adam Wharton.
Middlesbrough were hoping to keep Hackney at the club, but failing to gain promotion to the Premier League has certainly made that more difficult.
The Toffees will have hope of completing a deal due to Hackney's eagerness to make the switch to the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Middlesbrough appear to be remaining strong with their stance that they want £25m to allow Hackney to depart, and it remains to be seen whether Everton will reach that figure.
Everton in talks with Iliman Ndiaye
GIVEMESPORT also reports that Everton are in talks with Iliman Ndiaye over a new contract.
Manchester United are one of the sides who are showing an interest in securing his signature, with the Toffees looking to offer improved terms to convince him to stay at the club.
Ndiaye's contract isn't set to expire until 2026, but Everton are hoping to fend off interest by extending his deal. There has been no breakthrough, with Everton remaining in talks to secure his signature.
