Fulham captain Joachim Andersen admitted that his side were from their best in the 0-0 draw with Brentford but was pleased that they did enough to get a point and a clean sheet.

Tom Masters gives his post-match analysis as Fulham drew 0-0 with Brentford.

Fulham captain Joachim Andersen was pleased with his team coming away with a draw against Brentford.

The Cottagers were again far from convincing going forward and for the second consecutive game were unable to score.

In fact, they were unable to even have a shot on target but there were still positives to take, with Fulham keeping a clean sheet the primary one.

It was also a result that reduces the gap with Chelsea, who occupy sixth spot, meaning Fulham are very much still in the race for European football next season.

Andersen made it clear he did not think his side were at their best but that taking a point home and keeping a clean sheet meant he was satisfied.

“I don’t think we played amazing today,” he said.

“But we need those points, and I think that is something we can do better this season.

“If we cannot win, we cannot lose, so that was a good point.

“They [Brentford] are a difficult team to play, they are dangerous on counters and have some good players up front in form.

“It is something we need to improve getting those clean sheets but good to get one today.”

There was one particular moment in the game that was discussed at length by all parties after the game and that included Andersen himself.

That was of course, the incredible save made by Bernd Leno in the 90th minute, denying Dango Ouattara from point-blank range.

Andersen was more grateful than most too as it was him whose sloppiness lost the ball and allowed Brentford to have the chance.

“[It was an] Unbelievable save,” Andersen told TNT Sports.

"I think it was me who lost the ball, so I'm thankful for him. That's what Leno does.

“He's saved us on numerous occasions - important to make the save.”

Fulham must now realistically claim a win in their next two matches to be in a position to push into the European places.

They host Aston Villa in the lunchtime kick-off next Saturday, before travelling to Arsenal in a game that they realistically will think of as a free hit.

But beyond those two matches against sides in the Premier League’s top four, there are genuine chances of picking up points, with matches against Bournemouth, Wolves and Newcastle.

With the gap being three points to sixth and just two points to eighth, the European dream is on but it may take as many as nine points to do it, something that Fulham will need to improve to do.

A clean sheet and a point is a place to build from though and Fulham fans will hope that under Andersen’s captaincy, next week can be the week they return to winning ways.
