We are now on to our penultimate part of Fulham's all-time greatest Premier League XI, with Fulham due to return to Premier League action on Saturday. But, who will join the Cottagers' greatest-ever XI on the left wing?

We are just two days away from Fulham’s long-awaited return to the Premier League, meaning we have just two more players to go through in the all-time Premier League XI.

The Cottagers return to action after a three-week international break with a clash away to Ipswich as they aim to get their first Premier League win on the board.

But, throughout this elongated international break, we have been running a long series on Fulham’s greatest players to form an all-time greatest Premier League XI.

And we are now onto the final two players, as the series comes to an end upon the return of live Fulham action.

So far, we have gone through our goalkeeping options - with Edwin van der Sar the chosen one there.

In defence, we opted for Steve Finnan, Brede Hangeland, Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson.

The midfield three was also picked, with Joao Palhinha, Danny Murphy and Bryan Ruiz chosen.

On the right hand side of the attacking trio, we elected Steed Malbranque, who beat Damien Duff and Harry Wilson to the side.

Now, we move onto the left of the attack in our penultimate part of this series.

So, without further ado, let’s get into it.

There is a very early strong contender for the Fulham all-time left-wing spot: Luis Boa Morte.

The Portuguese international was a little quiet to get going, with only three goals and three assists in his first 52 matches.

But in the 2003-04 season, he really got going, with nine goals and five assists in 33 matches.

The following season, he went even further, with 18 goal involvements, scoring eight goals and assisting 10 times in 31 matches.

Overall in his Fulham Premier League career, Boa Morte scored 26 goals and assisted 25 times in 166 matches - making him a hugely viable option indeed.

He currently sits joint sixth for most Premier League goals in Fulham history.

Clint Dempsey (2007-2012)

Immediately after Boa Morte’s departure, arguably Fulham’s greatest ever player stepped in, in the form of Clint Dempsey.

He too was a slightly slow starter in Fulham colours, scoring just once in 10 matches immediately after joining.

The following year, he began to ramp it up, though, with six goals and two assists in 36 matches, before scoring seven goals in each of the next two seasons.

That of course also included the 2009-10 Europa League run to the final.

In the 2010-11 season, Dempsey went to new heights altogether with 12 goals and three assists in 37 matches, before his best season by some distance came the year later, with 17 goals and six assists in 37 matches in the 2011-12 season.

In Dempsey’s Premier League career for Fulham, he netted 50 times and assisted a further 16 goals in 189 times and was Fulham’s all-time top goal scorer in the top flight.

Alex Iwobi (2023-)

Fulham’s third shout on the left hand side comes in the form of their modern-day option in Alex Iwobi.

Iwobi joined Fulham from Everton, having come through the Arsenal academy, and he was straight away hitting strong numbers for the Cottagers.

The Nigerian scored five goals and assisted two more in his first season, before going on to register 15 goal involvements (nine goals, six assists) in the 2024-25 season.

Last season he became a far more flexible player, shifting often into the midfield, but still delivering four goals and three assists.

Iwobi recently played in his 100th Premier League match for Fulham (now sitting on 102 appearances) and has scored 18 goals, assisting 11 times.

Conclusion:

Iwobi has been a solid player for Fulham, while Boa Morte is extremely unlucky to miss out, but the pair are competing with the best of the best in Fulham colours in the form of Clint Dempsey.

The American is the best player Fulham has ever seen and he very clearly makes this team.
