With Igor Tudor and Tottenham Hotspur parting ways after a torrid five matches for the Croatian, what does this mean for Marco Silva? The Portuguese has become one of the favourites according to the bookies to take over at Spurs, in worrying news for Fulham fans.

In one of the least big surprises in the Premier League this season, Tottenham Hotspur and Igor Tudor have parted ways.

Tudor, who came in to north London following Thomas Frank’s sacking on February 13 as an interim manager until the end of the season has had a dismal time.

Spurs lost all but one of their opening five Premier League matches, picking up their solitary point against Liverpool at Anfield, with Fulham brushing them aside on March 1 with a 3-1 win.

Tudor was also informed of the tragic news that his father had passed away following Spurs’ 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

With Tudor grieving and the results leaving Tottenham just one point above the relegation zone, the Croatian and the club made the decision to part ways by mutual consent just 44 days after his bizarre appointment.

Tottenham have said “an update on a new head coach will be provided in due course”, with assistant manager Bruno Saltor taking on training for those not on international duty.

But where does this leave Marco Silva and could Spurs look his way as their new manager?

The short answer to the second question is yes.

Silva is out of contract this summer and having previously been offered a deal to extend his stay in west London, he seems keen to see what is out there and if he can get a “better” offer.

Tottenham on the face of it is certainly not a better offer than Fulham right now, but there can be no arguing that the two clubs are in inherently different size brackets.

Spurs, with their massive new shiny stadium and impressive training facilities are, off the pitch at least, one of the leading teams commercially in world football now.

And that combined with their shocking on field form, which saw them finish 17th in the Premier League last season, the position they sit once again this term, makes them an oddly enchanting project for managers looking to make the next step.

Silva has now managed Hull, Watford, Everton and Fulham in the Premier League, staying with the latter since July 2021.

His decision not to extend that stay, for now at least, suggests he is looking to make that jump and Tottenham could offer him it.

What do the odds say?

Well, look away there too Fulham fans.

Silva was 33/1 earlier in the week and it seemed that the Portuguese may end up staying put after all.

But, following Tudor’s sacking, he has shot right up to 5/1, according to BetVictor.

That sees him emerge as the third favourite according to that bookmaker, with only Sean Dyche and Roberto De Zerbi ahead of him.

It still feels like a strange time for Silva to walk away from Fulham with the club in a position to end in a European spot, but should the offer come, it is not clear whether Silva would take it or not.
