Josh King said that Fulham have nothing to lose as they try to finish in the European places for the first time since 2012. The Cottagers have four matches left of the season, with a possible European finish very much on the cards.

Tom Masters explains Josh King's words that Fulham have nothing to lose.

Josh King has said that Fulham have nothing to lose in their chase for European football next season.

Fulham are 10th in the Premier League, level on points with eighth-placed Chelsea, who occupy the final European spot as things stand.

Last weekend proved to be almost perfect for Marco Silva’s men, with Fulham beating Aston Villa, and every team around them bar Brighton dropping points.

It leaves the possibility of Fulham being in all three European competitions very much alive despite a difficult run of matches against sides who were, at the time, fifth, seventh and fourth in the Premier League table.

As a result of picking up four points from those three matches against Liverpool, Brentford and Aston Villa, it is no surprise that Fulham are happy with their progress as things stand.

The 19-year-old said: “We’re really happy at the moment, obviously, we’ve had a few tough games, Liverpool, then Brentford, then Villa, it has been a tough run.

“But I think if before that, you said we’d have four points from it, then a lot of people would have taken that.

“I think the mood in the camp is good, I think everyone is really pleased with the way we performed against Aston Villa, and hopefully we just now try and take that win and that performance and use that momentum for the Arsenal game.”

Fulham now have a very clear goal for the remainder of the season - to qualify for European football next season.

And, while the task in hand may not be the simplest, Fulham’s season ends with matches against Arsenal, Bournemouth, Wolves and Newcastle.

King believes that if his side just goes out and plays without fear, they will have every chance of achieving their goal.

“That is what all of us, as a team, management, staff and the fans, I think that is what we all want and what we are all pushing for.

“I know we say it a lot, but we genuinely have the potential, we have the squad 100% to push for those European spots.

“I think if we just keep performing the way we are and if we keep playing with no fear and the idea that we have nothing to lose, then I think we will go really far for the last part of the season.”

Fulham’s first task is to attempt to get something out of a daunting trip to the Emirates.

Arsenal are top of the league and have the most points at home in the Premier League this season, compared to Fulham who have picked up just 16 points from 17 matches on the road.

King insists there is no fear on Fulham’s side though and that they can go and get the win.

He said: “Arsenal are a top, top side and I think we just try and treat it as every other game, I think we set up in a way where we go to compete and we go to get the three points.

“Obviously both of us are pushing for our own ambitions and so we just go there again with no fear and just play for the badge I think is the best way to put it and just try and get a performance which we will be proud of there.”
