With the international break finally concluded, it is time to jump back into Premier League action and what better way to do that for Fulham than a trip to Anfield.
Liverpool are faltering in the Premier League at the moment, picking up just a solitary point from their last three matches and also suffering a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-final.
They face the daunting challenge of a trip to Paris to take on reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League before they welcome Fulham to Anfield in what could be quite a toxic atmosphere.
The Liverpool fan groups have already announced a plan to protest at the handling of ticket prices during the Fulham match.
Andf with eighth place now representing a spot in Europe, the carrot has been dangled for Fulham players, fans and Marco Silva alike.
Liverpool feel there for the taking, European football is within Fulham’s grasp, so to give you some fresh belief that Fulham can come away from Anfield with all three points, here are some famous wins by the Cottagers over the Reds.
23 November 2002 - Fulham 3-2 Liverpool
Fulham had not defeated Liverpool since February 1966 when they hosted a Liverpool side who had finished second the season before.
Just five minutes into the game though, Facundo Sava sored his third goal of the season and the Cottagers took a 2-0 lead through Sean Davis.
A Dietmar Hamann free-kick shortly after the hour mark threated to bring Liverpool back into the game but just six minutes later and Sava once again put Fulham two goals to the good.
Milan Baros made Fulham fans sweat with a late goal in the 86th minute but it proved too little, too late and Jean Tigana’s men were able to hold on for a famous first win over Liverpool in over 36 years.
31 October 2009 - Fulham 3-1 Liverpool
Fulham were again in action against a Liverpool side who finished second the previous season at Craven Cottage.
And just like seven years previously, there was no real need to be worried, with Bobby Zamora slotting home Damien Duff’s pass to put Fulham into a 1-0 lead after 24 minutes.
Fernando Torres did equalise shortly before half time for the away side but the second half belonged to Fulham, with Erik Nevland scoring and then assisting Clint Dempsey to cap a famous 3-1 win for the Cottagers.
1 May 2012 - Liverpool 0-1 Fulham
Liverpool may have been at their weakest point in years, but Fulham had still never won at Anfield.
This seemed like possibly their best ever chance, sitting ninth in the table and facing a Liverpool side who were only one spot above them in eighth.
It took just five minutes for the Cottagers, led by Danny Murphy, to take a 1-0 lead courtesy of a Martin Skrtel own goal.
That proved enough to earn a historic first triumph at Anfield, something the current crop of Fulham players will be hoping to emulate this week.
7 March 2021 - Liverpool 0-1 Fulham
Almost nine years after their first triumph at Anfield, Fulham won their second ever match away at Liverpool.
In an empty stadium due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mario Lemina’s strike after 45 minutes was enough for Fulham to again leave Anfield with a 1-0 win.
It sadly was not enough to prevent relegation, as the Cottagers finished 18th, 11 points adrift of safety.
6 April 2025 - Fulham 3-2 Liverpool
Just a season ago, Fulham showed just how much they have improved under Marco Silva, claiming a win over the champions of the season.
Alexis Mac Allister put Liverpool into the lead early but three quickfire goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz put Fulham into complete control.
Luis Diaz did score to keep the game interesting in the dying embers but it was another for the Craven Cottage faithful to remember.
