It is the elephant in the room regarding Fulham at the moment, when is Marco Silva going to commit his future to the club. The Portuguese’s contract ends in June.

Tom Masters explains Marco Silva's words regarding his contract situation.

Marco Silva said that when there is news on his contract, Fulham fans will find out.

Silva has now just over two months left of his four-year deal and it is very much the elephant in the room, will he stay or will he go?

The 48-year-old has revolutionsed Fulham since taking over the club, with 106 points in the Championship, a total only beaten by Manchester City in the 2002/03 season, before seasons of 10th, 13th and 11th in the Premier League.

Last season, Fulham achieved their highest ever points tally in the top flight and they are a mere six points off repeating that feat for the second succesive season.

But, with Fulham on the brink of potentially ending their 14-year hiatus from European football, fans cannot get too excited.

Before they can get really carried away, they are relying on Silva finally signing the new deal to stay at Craven Cottage, having stalled on the deal that was offered to him in October.

Asked by TNT Sports’ Karen Carney after the 1-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday, Silva revealed he has been speaking with the board and that when there is something to say, it will be made public.

He said: “We have been talking and talking and myself, with the board and we are completely aligned with what is important for the football club.

“Of course, when we have news, we are going to put it out.

“So far, we have myself, we have the situation of Harry Wilson as well and the Raul [Jimenez] situation too.

“It is not just about me, of course, I know that a lot of talks about the manager is normal, it is just, they have been showing how important I have been for the football club and I am totally preparing the future of the football club, without contract or with contract, I am doing the same job.

“Everything is prepared for the next season, we are keeping working together, let’s see if we have news.

“In the right moment, it will come, of course, the club is doing their best, the club I can not complain about anything because they have always been patient.

“We have been working every single week together, we have meetings about everything that is going to be important for the football club and after these big decisions that have to come, it is going to be the time to give you the feedback.”

Fulham fans will be waiting with bated breath when the announcement does come in that Silva is staying or leaving but for now, they simply have to focus on finishing in the European places.
