After a transfer window that has seen Fulham replace the old with the new, unlike any of the previous five that came before it, we are at crunch time and deadline day.

Yes, it is that time of the summer when clubs get a bit twitchy after a slow start or injury to a key player and decide to bring in one or two more signings to close out the window.

And the window will slam shut in England at 11 pm UK time on September 1, leaving clubs a little over 24 hours to finalise any more deals and get their squads into shape.

Fulham have been a little bit quiet ever since they secured a deal to bring in Shea Charles from Southampton, and their squad does certainly look to be a little bit light in certain areas.

So could Fulham be involved in any more business this summer, and if so, who might they be interested in signing?

Well, I believe the saying is never say never, and so far this window, it has almost been a whole summer of that saying coming to fruition.

It seemed at one stage impossible that Fulham would land Gonzalo Garcia or Charles, and yet both are now on the Cottagers’ books, so you really do never know in football.

The rumour mill has largely slowed down, though, with the initial interest in Chibuike Nwaiwu and Charlie Cresswell, both centre-backs, from Trabzonspor and Toulouse respectively, seemingly slowing down.

The club have got Joachim Andersen, Calvin Bassey, Jorge Cuenca and Luc De Fougerolles in that area of the pitch and they have clearly decided that they have enough there despite losing Issa Diop to Ipswich.

One thing that has surprised me is the lack of any sort of interest in bringing in a right winger, having lost Harry Wilson and not replaced him.

A loan deal for Ethan Nwaneri would be a major coup for Fulham, although at this stage of the window, it does seem quite unlikely, with Arsenal needing to bring in an attacker of their own before the window slams shut.

There is one rumour which suggests that Fulham are going to rival Crystal Palace for the signing of Sweden midfielder Hugo Larsson.

According to TeamTalk, Larsson has been in London this week having talks with both clubs over a prospective deal, as well as with the likes of Brentford, Brighton, Nottingham Forest, Everton and Hull.

It is not exactly a concrete rumour, but it does show that Fulham could be inclined to dip into their pockets again this summer should the right deal emerge.

If we are honest, it does feel as though Fulham are perhaps a couple of players light at the moment but whether or not that gets addressed before the window closes, well that remains to be seen.
