Calvin Bassey and Kenny Tete are due to be fit to return to the Fulham squad for the hugely important clash with Liverpool. Bassey injured his back in Nigeria training while Tete suffered a knock before the international break.

Tom Masters reveals that Calvin Bassey and Kenny Tete are due to be fit for Fulham against Liverpool.

Every match is of huge importance as we near the end of the Premier League season and that is particularly the case with teams chasing Europe.

There are seven matches to go before the final weekend in May and there will certainly be several twists and turns before then, not least with the race being so open.

With Liverpool and Chelsea struggling for any sort of consistency, there is now a chance for not just European football but for Champions League football for the chasing pack.

That is, of course, assuming that fifth place will still grant an extra Champions League place in the Champions League, which is expected to be the case.

In that group of teams on the tails of the pair of European giants is Fulham, who sit in ninth but are just four points behind Chelsea and five behind Liverpool.

With Brentford failing to beat Leeds and drawing each of their last three matches, Fulham are also just two points behind their London rivals in seventh and European football is certainly within their grasp.

Their next three matches will be absolutely pivotal, though, for whether or not they can apply pressure on the teams above them and play European football next season.

Fulham face Liverpool at Anfield in their first match following the international break, before a trip to Brentford the following week and then welcome fourth placed Aston Villa to Craven Cottage.

It is an incredibly difficult run of games for Marco Silva’s men, facing the team in fifth, seventh and fourth in 14 days.

A clear advantage to Fulham, however, is that both Liverpool and Aston Villa are involved in Europe still, with Liverpool facing Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals and Aston Villa taking on Bologna in the Europa League.

But nonetheless, Silva will be hoping for a fully fit squad to take on the final seven matches of the season.

When Calvin Bassey withdrew from the Nigeria squad before their 2-1 win over Iran, there were concerns they would lose one of their key men in the squad.

But according to Nigerian outlet Soccernet, Bassey’s injury, which is thought to be a back injury, is not too serious.

It was already expected that Kenny Tete would be back in contention following the international break, but if Silva has Bassey fully fit too, then it will be just Brazilian winger Kevin who is out of the Liverpool match.

It remains a big ask heading to Anfield but doing so without a fully fit squad would be significantly harder, so Silva will be hoping he hears no more bad news.
