Fulham are among the teams chasing Wolves’ Hwang Hee Chan. The Korean international is looking to leave Wolves this summer, with no ambition to play in the Championship.
Fulham are interested in signing South Korea forward Hwang Hee Chan from Wolves this summer, according to Sportsboom.
With Wolves failing to put up any sort of real fight throughout the season to stay in the Premier League, they have long planned for their future in the Championship.
Norwegian forward Jorgen Strand Larsen exited the club to join Crystal Palace in January, with Wolves signing Championship specialist Adam Armstrong.
It seems likely that Joao Gomes will depart, with Atletico Madrid the primary suitors for the Brazilian midfielder, while Santiago Bueno is another who may well leave the club this summer.
Now it is Hwang, who, according to the article, “has absolutely no intention of being part of this rebuilding phase.”
As ever, Fulham are not the only club showing interest, with rivals Brentford also showing interest in securing the services of the South Korean.
Hwang was signed from RB Leipzig on loan in the summer of 2021, before joining on a permanent fee the following summer for €16.7 million.
His reputation in Germany still remains high and there are unknown Bundesliga clubs interested in him.
Meanwhile Italian side Lazio believe Hwang can be an excellent fit in Serie A and are said to be focused on figuring out his wage demands ahead of a potential move in the summer.
The article reads: “Wolves will enter the summer window as a stubborn seller. They want to extract maximum value from the player to build their own transfer budget.
“Although his value on paper appears to be in the €15-20 million range, the "relegation discount" is the unwritten rule of the transfer market.
“The opening price will likely be €15 million; however, to get rid of the wage burden, they might say "yes" to a package involving £13 million plus bonuses.
“Hwang’s quality remains highly prized in the Premier League market. His ability to lead the line as a center-forward or operate on the flank makes him a tactical "Swiss Army knife" for mid-table sides.
“Fulham boss Marco Silva appreciates Hwang’s work ethic and tactical discipline.
“Fulham is looking to add more "aggression" to their frontline, and Hwang’s ability to press from the front seems a perfect fit for Silva’s system. Currently, talks are at the "sounding out" stage.
“Brentford is also a club that is always in hot pursuit of a "value signing." They view Hwang as a proven Premier League goalscorer whose market value has been artificially deflated due to relegation.
“With Igor Thiago’s uncertain future and their search for a high-quality rotation player, Hwang is an ideal candidate.”
Hwang has scored just two goals in 26 Premier League appearances for Wolves this season but had a career high 12 in the 2023/24 season and therefore captures some attention due to his ability to play in multiple positions.
