Fulham are eyeing Bayer Leverkusen's Malik Tilman as a potential replacement for Harry Wilson, according to the Daily Mail. Wilson is subject to interest from nine clubs this summer, with his contract coming to a close in June.
Fulham are ‘exploring’ a potential deal to bring Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Malik Tillman to Craven Cottage, according to the Daily Mail.
With Harry Wilson looking more and more certain to depart the club at the end of the season, Fulham have begun to look elsewhere at who can provide the spark in their attack.
Wilson has been Fulham’s star player this season, scoring 10 goals and assisting six more in 30 Premier League matches.
But with his contract expiring at the end of the season and no progress being made on signing a new deal, the likelihood of Wilson departing has increased.
Roundtable has previously reported there is interest from Everton, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham, Leeds and Wrexham for Wilson.
The Daily Mail report includes Crystal Palace as the latest club seeking Wilson’s services this summer, which would take the total number of clubs chasing the Welshman to eight.
While Fulham have not given up in their pursuit of trying to keep Wilson, they are also aware that he may well opt to depart the club this summer and are therefore actively seeking who they can bring in as a replacement.
That is where Tillman comes in, with the US international impressing at Leverkusen this season.
Graduating from the Bayern Munich academy, Tillman has impressive stock, first catching the attention of European giants when on loan at Rangers in the 2022-23 season.
The 23-year-old then spent a season on loan at PSV Eindhoven before joining the Dutch side on a permanent basis the following season.
But just a year into his contract, Bundesliga side Leverkusen bought Tillman in for a fee of £30 million.
Representing the USA due to his father’s connections, Tillman has scored eight goals in 35 appearances across all competitions this season.
He has another four years left on his contract and Leverkusen are not thought to be considering his departure this summer.
But according to the report, they may well ‘test Leverkusen’s resolve’ with an offer this summer.
A potential signing of Tillman follows Fulham’s repeated efforts to sign Ricardo Pepi.
Tillman’s international teammate Pepi was twice the subject of an offer from Fulham, once in January and once again shortly after.
The clubs agreed on a deal, and Pepi even travelled to London for a medical, but there was a disagreement on exactly when the deal would be completed and who would be responsible should he get injured.
Fulham are likely to return to the table for Pepi this summer and could well bring in both Pepi and Tillman as their long history with Americans continues.
