Fulham's hunt for a striker has broadened to Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott, with the Cottagers linked to the AZ forward by the Independent's Miguel Delaney. Former Spurs academy member Parrott has scored 28 goals in 53 Eredivisie appearances for AZ and has caught the eye of several teams.
Fulham are chasing the signing of Republic of Ireland hero Troy Parrott this summer.
Parrott, who was in the Tottenham Hotspur academy from 2017 untl 2019 before moving up to the senior squad, had loan spells at Millwall, Ipswich, MK Dons, Preston North End and Excelsior, before making the permanent switch to Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.
In the Eredivisie, Parrott has enjoyed two excellent seasons, with 14 goals coming in each of his two camapigns in the Netherlands, including 14 in 23 matches this season.
He has also become a cult figure for the Republic of Ireland, after scoring both goals in a 2-0 win over Portugal and all three in a 3-2 win over Hungary to ensure Ireland reached the World Cup play-offs.
He also added a further goal to his repertoire for the national side in the 2-2 draw with Czechia in the World Cup play-off semi-final, in which the Republic of Ireland ultimately suffered a defeat on penalties.
Now the 24-year-old is on the radar of several Premier League clubs and according to the Independent’s Miguel Delaney, Fulham are the leading contenders to secure his services.
It is not the first time the Cottagers have been linked with Parrott, with Delaney previously saying in January that Fulham are battling with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and LaLiga’s Real Betis.
Delaney stated that the interest came after Parrott’s five goals in two games which took the Republic of Ireland from the brink of elimination to the World Cup play-off.
Wolfsburg had previously expressed interest in a £17.4 million deal but after two strong seasons and with his profile now significantly higher than it was before, Delaney reveals that AZ will demand a higher fee than that.

Serie A giants AC Milan, La Liga’s Real Betis and Bundesliga’s Borussia Dortmund are also keeping Parrott on their radar.
Fulham’s interest in Parrott follows their pursuit of USA striker Ricardo Pepi, another forward who has thrived in the Eredivisie for runaway league leaders PSV Eindhoven.
With Raul Jimenez in the final year of his contract and Rodrigo Muniz scoring just one goal this season in the Premier League, it seems the Fulham board are looking to upgrade their strikeforce for next season.
It appears it is going to be largely between Parrott and Pepi for who they target this summer, or potentially even both if they decide not to offer Jimenez a new deal and Muniz departs.
