Fulham are monitoring a potential transfer for Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer. The Blades' midfielder has been a constant for Chris Wilder in the midfield since he move from Coventry City in 2023, but he could join Fulham this summer.

Tom Masters explains Fulham's interest in Gustavo Hamer.

Fulham are monitoring Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer over a potential summer switch, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Hamer, 28, joined Sheffield United in 2023 from Coventry City and enters the final year of his contract next year.

With the Blades nowhere near promotion this year, Hamer could decide this is the time to depart Brammall Lane and he has plenty of suitors across Europe.

Fulham are one of three Premier League clubs, along with Everton and Nottingham Forest, who are monitoring the situation with Hamer and feel he could be a good value acquisition this summer.

There is also interest in Turkey from Trabzonspor as well as PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie, where Hamer began his career, before moving to England.

Hamer has been a hugely important member of the Sheffield United squad since he made the switch from the Sky Blues.

He played in 36 matches in Sheffield United’s season in the Premier League in 2023-24, before playing a further 41 times last season in the Championship, where he scored nine goals.

This season Hamer has played 30 times for The Blades, scoring twice and assisting a further 11 times, as well as playing once in both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, scoring in both games.

The article quotes that Turkish outlet Kuzey Ekspres has linked Hamer with the Toffees, Reds and Cottagers this summer.

It adds: “The clubs are said to be readying offers, although they could reportedly face competition from Turkey.

“It has been claimed Trabzonspor will speak to Sheffield United at the end of the season regarding the possibility of a move for the 28-year-old.”

It is expected that business could be conducted for around the £20 million mark.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder did not rule out Hamer’s departure this summer but insisted that he was still a Blade for now.

He said: “We have to come to a decision with Gus and Tyrese [Campbell], because they’re in the last 18 months of their deals as well. So talks with them.

“But there has to be enthusiasm from other clubs for the boys' services as well, so ongoing stuff that can go either way.

“What I'm seeing at the moment, and what I demand of everybody, is a committed group.

“We don't get the results and get the performances that we have if we're not committed.

“So Ty and Gus are with us for 18 months, and I demand and expect committed performances. And they’re producing.”
