Fulham are once again expressing an interest in Botafogo midfielder Danilo as they look to boost their midfield options ahead of the 2026/27 season. But who is Danilo?

Tom Masters gives the run down on who Fulham target Danilo is.

Fulham are showing an interest in signing Brazilian midfielder Danilo this summer as their plans for next season ramp up.

With the Cottagers currently unsure of whether they will be in Europe and unsure whether Marco Silva will be in charge, it is slightly tricky to plan for recruitment.

But one player who has come up as a transfer rumour fairly routinely this summer has been Brazilian midfielder Danilo.

Fulham’s midfield has at times flattered to deceive, with Sander Berge, Sasa Lukic, Tom Cairney and Harrison Reed often being helped out by Alex Iwobi taking on a deeper role.

And, while Silva has made it clear that he wants to sign a right back and a striker if he stays in west London this summer, it is clear Fulham are looking at how they can bolster their midfield options.

That is where Danilo comes in, with the Cottagers very keen on the Brazilian, but, who is Danilo?

Who is Danilo?

Now plying his trade with Botafogo, Danilo is a name that you may be familiar with, as he has played in the Premier League before.

The Brazilian joined Nottingham Forest from Palmerias in January 2023 for a fee of around £16 million and spent two-and-a-half seasons there.

His first year and a half was a success, scoring five goals in 42 Premier League matches and looking like the exciting player Forest had brought to the City ground.

Then, in the season opener against Bournemouth in the 2024/25 season, Danilo suffered a horrific leg injury that was so bad stewards placed flags around him while getting treatment to give him privacy.

Afrer working hard on his recovery, it was decided that Danilo would leave Forest and he returned to his native Brazil after making just eight Premier League appearances.

He joined Botafogo and understandably after such a nasty injury, he was initially a little slow to hit his usual heights, though he was back playing fairly consistent minutes.

In the 2026 season though, Danilo has been exceptional and looks to be truly back to his best.

The 25-year-old has already mustered seven goals in 10 Brazilian Serie A matches and it is no wonder that he is catching the eye of the likes of Fulham.

His form has been so good that he finally achieved a dream of making his Brazil debut in the friendly against France last month, following that up by scoring his first goal in the 3-1 win over Croatia.

Fulham have often represented second chances to players and with Danilo, they could well be that club again in Europe, while getting a player of real talent in return.
