FULLTIME: Arsenal 2-1 Leeds United

The game got away from Leeds in the final 30 minutes, but prior to that, they thoroughly deserved their lead.

Competed, battled and bettered the champions for periods. Big battle and a good step forward from last season.

Next up, Manchester United at Elland Road.

92' Trafford in no man's land!

Trafford comes out to the edge of his area, but fails to make contact with the ball and Gyokeres takes the ball around him.

Why did he not shoot?! Leeds were lucky not to find themselves 3-1 down there.

90' Five minutes added. (2-1)

Still time for Leeds to find an equaliser here.

86' Substitution for Leeds. (2-1)

Bogle and Elvedi off for Bahoya and Bijol.

82' Wonderful play from Rice. (2-1)

He takes the ball down and jinks it past a Leeds defender and into the six-yard box.

Trafford scoops it away; it hits Muharemovic, bounces off Odegaard, who is waiting to tap it in alongside Gyokeres, but it falls fortuitously back to Trafford.

78' Changes for Leeds. (2-1)

Harry Wilson and Brendan Aaronson on for Ao Tanaka and Noah Okafor. Farke is looking to gain a foothold in the game and kill this Arsenal momentum.

Now, with James Justin booked for dragging down Guimaraes on the counter-attack, Justin comes off to be replaced with striker Lukas Nmecha.

Attacking subs for the Whites!

71' A goal of champions from Arsenal. (2-1)

Yeah, a stunning move from the champions. Really good football.

Guimaraes, the skilfull Brazilian, started the move with a nutmug on Tanaka, and play continued.

Saka to Odegaard, played to Rice, who pulled off a no-look flick around the corner to edge of the box for the former Newcastle midfielder to run onto.

And there was no mistake at all from Bruno, who rattled it first-time hard and low into the bottom-left corner.

A goal that oozed class. Arsenal are really in full flow now.

70' Goal Arsenal. Guimaraes. (2-1)

Instant impact from the 75-million-pound signing, Bruno Guimaraes, scores to make it 2-1.

A class finish from the Brazilian, wrapping up a tidy bit of play from the champions of England.

63' Triple substitution for Arsenal. (1-1)

Jurien Timber, Viktor Gyokeres and Bruno Guimaraes on for Ben White, Kai Havertz and Myles Lewis-Skelly, respectively.

62' Goal Arsenal. Calafiori. (1-1)

A disappointing goal to concede from Leeds.

Calafiori levels it. Madueke crosses it to White at the back post. Nodded back inside, Calafiori arrives, unmarked, to steer it past Trafford.

55' Lovely play from Leeds. (0-1)

Lovely goal. Okafor puts Gudmundsson down the left. Arsenal are so slow to react.

A low cross evades everyone in the area, and Justin arrives unmarked at the back post. Rifled home.

54' GOOOOOOOAL FOR LEEDS, JAMES JUSTIN! (0-1)

It's been coming for Leeds.

They have begun the second half as they ended the first, ontop and dominating the champions.

46' Second half underway. (0-0)

Aaaaand we're back underway at the Emirates.

Half-Time: Arsenal 0-0 Leeds United

Aaaaand breathe... Leeds head into the half-time break goalless, keeping the Premier League champions at bay thus far.

A good game despite the lack of goalmouth action.

Arsenal have been OK, but Leeds will be the happier; they've been excellent so far in keeping out the champions.

Farke will be highly motivated by that performance; Leeds are right in this game. But with a few minutes of head loss coming towards the end, they need to keep their heads.

44' This game has a spark now. (0-0)

Good Leeds move.

Calvert-Lewin drops in, feeds Okafor to break, who has the awareness to cross for Justin wide right. The cross eventually comes in, with Gudmundsson arriving late.

Shoots from a tight, close angle. Raya gets enough on it to parry it away.

41' Farke carded for his protests. (0-0)

Farke booked for protests to the fourth official.

Then goes back in for another go, after the yellow. Ed Wootton, GK coach, tries to get between them, and Farke shoves him out of the way.

A few minutes of head loss across three yellows for Leeds. In this game, but can't afford to overheat.

35' Brilliant pass from Raya. (0-0)

Saka gives away a free kick on the right, Leeds send it into the edge of the box and Raya charges off his line to try to punch it away.

His contact is poor and it falls to Ampadu around 20 yards out, who aims a powerful header on the now-unguarded goal.

Raya has to sprint back, catch the ball just in time and keep his balance to avoid carrying it over the line. He then whips a wonderful pass, side on, into the Leeds half and straight to Saka.

Stach sprints back to cover. At the other end, the German could be in on goal as Arsenal's defence is split but Okafor's pass to him is wastefully overhit and Raya smothers it.

A better pass and Stach would have been one-on-one!

33' Great defending, Ao Tanaka. (0-0)

Top defending from Leeds midfielder Tanaka, who matches up Saka, another player for whom the letter A makes up 50 per cent of his surname.

The Japan internernational doesn't get fooled by any of Saka's flicks and spins, stays on his feet, doesn't commit either way, and eentually jumps in to win the ball.

Steady and committed. As Leeds have been for this opening half an hour at the Emirates.

24' Great chance for Leeds! (0-0)

Unfortunate moment for Leeds. Great move, good delivery from Gudmundsson to the far post. Stach comes onto it.

Doesn't leather it, but good contact, only to see his shot blocked by Bogle. They have to make more moments like that.

22' Havertz header, straight at Trafford. (0-0)

Around halfway through the first half, Arsenal create maybe their clearest opportunity so far.

Madueke swings down the left wing and stands up a floaty cross. It's a little behind Havertz, but he muscles a header on goal.

Straight at a well-positioned Trafford.

8' Narrowly wide from Okafor! (0-0)

The best chance of the match falls to the Whites!

Gabriel gives away a free-kick on the Arsenal left; it's swung in and half-cleared by White at the back post.

Okafor strides onto the ball outside the box and looks to bend it into the bottom-right corner.

It's great contact on the ball, but Saka blocks the effort. It whizzes narrowly wide.

Looked like it was going in otherwise, so Saka's leg was crucial!

7' - Offside for Arsenal! (0-0)

Saka links up with right-back White - with whom he has a telepathic understanding - but White was offside as Saka played it inside the full-back.

Then, on the other side, Madueke is flagged offside too.

12:30 - Underway at the Emirates. (0-0)

Here we go then! The first Premier League game of the day, the first after a lengthy three-week international break, is underway.

Champions Arsenal, who lost 3-0 against brighton in their most recent match, return to their attempts to retain the title.

Leeds, unbeaten in the league so far, attempt to keep that record alive.

Let's get into it.
